Geocache Description:

Harpers Ferry, A Wild & Wonderful Place!

Harpers Ferry is a true tapestry of American history, woven with countless threads of pivotal events and figures. It's not just a footnote in textbooks; it's a living narrative where innovation, conflict, and progress intersect. Imagine the first interchangeable manufacturing processes revolutionizing industries, the roar of the first successful American railroad echoing through the valley, and John Brown's fierce stand against slavery altering the course of the nation. The largest surrender of Federal troops during the Civil War further imprints its importance, and the early integrated school symbolizes a step toward equality.

Each layer of Harpers Ferry's history enriches our understanding of the past, reflecting the complexities and triumphs that have shaped America's journey. It’s like standing at a crossroads of time, feeling the weight of history and the promise of progress. Here you will find yourself at a rock made famous by a visit from Thomas Jefferson in 1783. He proclaimed that the view from this rock was worth a voyage across the Atlantic.

To log a find for this virtual take a photo of yourself with Jefferson Rock in the background. Making sure to attach it to your log.

For those that are camera shy, you just need to take a photo of the rock with your cache name visible in the picture.

Any log that doesn't have a picture attached will be deleted. If you do a group picture you still need to have that picture on each and every log.

Please do not send us your picture in the message center or via email. It has to be part of your log, as stated above. If you are logging using the Geocaching app sending answers is not required. The only requirement to log this virtual is a photo (see above for options). It must be posted with your found log.
