Welcome to Pactola Resevoir - the Jewel of Recreation on the Black Hills National Forest.
Pactola Lake is the largest and deepest reservoir in the Black Hills. It is just a short 15 miles drive west of Rapid City, South Dakota. The BHNF Visitor Center (seasonal) site offers free parking (year-round), picnic areas, benches and lake viewing opportunities from an extended patio,
Campgrounds, picnic areas, boating, hiking trails, fishing and beaches attract outdoor lovers to recreate in Black Hills of South Dakota., You can easily find your own favorite place somewhere along the shoreline or on a hillside.
Constructed in 1952, the lake provides another water source to Rapid City.
The historic marker at GZ recounts the achievements of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp F - 4 at this location. It was part of the CCC program between 1933-1942. To Log this Virtual - message me "Pactola Resevoir Virtual" and your answers to the following questions.
