The Rock of Cashel was established as the seat of the Kings of Munster in the 4th century. It is situated on a rocky outcrop at the edge of Cashel town. All the buildings seen on site today date from the 12th century onward. The main structures here are Cormac's Chapel, the Round Tower and the Cathedral.
