AFTER THE MISSOULA FLOODS about 12,000 years ago an oak savanna and grasslands began to appear in the Willamette Valley. It was close to 150 miles north to south full of berries and hazel nuts. For thousands of years native bands would come into the valley to hunt and gather food substances.
In the very early 1800's Lewis and Clark arrived at the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. They were followed by the mountain men in search of beavers as big as bears and the gold miners from California. Next came the American missionaries. The pioneers heard it was a "land of milk and honey" and word spread quickly of this large green valley.
AND NOW OUR STORY CONTINUES with the following two questions, which can be answered at the coordinates. Please message the answers to us and do not post pictures of them...thank you. But we must admit a selfie is always fun to see.
1...This is the location of the first "......."?
2...Who placed it and what year?
