Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza

Welcome to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza. The plaza was dedicated in 2009 as part of the Lincoln Bicentennial celebration. The plaza commemorates the fourteen years that Lincoln spent here in Spencer County. The plaza is located just inside the entrance of Lincoln State Park.
The plaza was designed by sculptor Will Clarke and George Morrison of the Fort Wayne architectural firm Morrison, Kattman, and Menze. The plaza consists of a series of limestone pedestals signifying key events of Lincoln's life in Indiana, a half circle illustrating Lincoln's growth from age 7 to 21, and a bronze sculpture of Lincoln.
Lincoln State Park, originally called Nancy Hanks Lincoln State Memorial, was created in 1932 as a memorial to Nancy Hanks Lincoln. 1,847 acre park has a two lakes, campgrounds, cabins, a nature center, and hiking trails. Also part of the park is the Colonel William Jones Home.
