The posted coordinates will bring you to Neptune's Fountain in the traffic circle at Barber Marina. The marina was started in 2008, and completed in 2010, and most of the artwork you find here was installed in 2010 or later. There are 14 Visible Waypoints (including the posted coordinates, which would be Waypoint 8 in order from North to South) that will bring you to all of the exciting roadside attractions that this place has to offer. Your mission is to take a photo of yourself or something that identifies you at the fountain at the posted coordinates, and at one other waypoint of your choosing. I realize that some geocaching apps don't let you post multiple photos with your logs, and in those cases you can simply post one photo in your main log, and then another photo using the Write Note feature. You can also wait until you get home to add the second photo to your log on your computer, but please do so in a timely manner. Bonus points for taking your photo with more than the required two! The 2.5 Terrain rating is for the worst terrain you will experience...I will list the terrain ratings for each stage below so that you can get a better idea of which spots to visit if you have mobility issues.
- Roman Goddess & Columns - the statue of what appears to be a Roman Goddess with Roman Columns was installed here in 2009, before the marina was completed. Terrain 1.5 to 2 to get to it, but flat at the actual waypoint.
- Bamahenge - Bamahenge is a partial replica of Stonehenge found in Wiltshire, England. It was built by artist Mark Cline and installed here in 2012. It has the same astrological alignment of the real Stonehenge, so on the morning of the summer solstice, an observer standing within the stone circle, looking easterly through the entrance, would see the Sun rise. Terrain 1.5
- Tyrannosaurus Rex - this life-size T-Rex stands over 15 feet tall, just like a real one! Although created in 1991, it wasn't installed in this spot until 2010. It was created by artist Mark Cline. Terrain 1.5
- Triceratops - like the T-Rex, this dinosaur is also life-size. It was also built in 1991, and installed in this spot in 2010. It was also created by artist Mark Cline. Terrain 1.5
- Stegosaurus - another of the life-size dinosaurs built by artist Mark Cline here, this one was also built in 1991, and installed here in 2010. Terrain 1.5
- Giant Sundial - coordinates are for the closest you can get to it near the fence. This sundial was installed in 1992, long before the marina was built, and if you could get close enough you could see that it really tells time! Terrain 1.5
- Brontosaurus - this is by far the largest of the dinosaurs at Barber Marina, and can be the hardest to find as he's surrounded by trees. This dino was also built in 1991 by artist Mark Cline, and installed here in 2010. Terrain 2.5 depending on if you cross over in your car first.
- Neptune's Fountain (posted coordinates) - this Italian Marble fountain was created by an artist in Italy and shipped to the United States. When the original buyer didn't pay for it, it was bought by the owner of the marina and installed here in 2011. Be sure to get the EarthCache at this location while you're here! Terrain 1.5
- Giant Spider - this giant spider is one of the newest additions, and was put in place in 2021. Terrain 1.5
- Lady in the Lake - also known as "Country Girl Skinny Dipping," she was installed here in 2015. If she was standing up, she would be taller than the statue of liberty! Terrain 1.5
- Knights in the Woods - these knights were put here to guard the woods in 2010. Terrain 1.5
- Giant Seahorses - these three giant seahorses were installed here in 2017. They are made out of bronze. Terrain 1.5
- Dolphin Statue - this Dolphin statue was installed in 2010. Terrain 1 (this and the alligator below are probably the only two you can safely get to for taking a photo in a wheelchair).
- Alligator Guard - this alligator was put here in 2010 to guard the marina. Terrain 1
- Other Statues and Artwork - around the marina you will find a few other pieces of art, including some sheep, other seahorses, fish, wooden benches carved into crabs, pelicans, etc. If you choose, you may take your second picture with one of these other pieces of art at the marina, but your main picture still has to be at the fountain. Various terrain ratings, but mostly 1.5
