I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for Glacier National Park 30 years ago. I am still amazed with it's beauty when I visit.
The view of Saint Mary Lake at Wild Goose Island Overlook is perhaps one of the most recognizable scenes in all of Glacier. It is the perfect spot to get a selfie or family photo to remember your time at the park.
There is parking available within just a few feet of the park's overlook. Even though this is a busy spot, most visitors are only here for a few minutes to get there photo op so parking is usually no problem. The overlook is crushed gravel on a flat area which should make it accessible to all.
Please stay on the maintained overlook and don't venture off the approved area. Even though this is a busy area, make sure to be aware of your surroundings. Glacier is Bear Country. Take the appropriate precautions.
Please check the conditions of the park and for any closures or postings at Current Conditions - Glacier National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) or Road, Trail & Campground Status - Glacier National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) for the most up to date information. In no way are individuals permitted into closed areas to access this geocache.
Please be advised that this geocache is located inside a fee area and during peak months there may be other requirements for entrance, like vehicle reservations.
