Welcome to the Red Brick School, a Provincial Heritage Site.
Construction of the Red Brick School started in 1907 and was completed in 1908 at a cost of about $26,000. An impressive accomplishment for a town of a mere 500 people at that time. This large, ultra-modern building was first in the district to offer up to Grade 12. It proudly served as Didsbury Public School until 1986, but it also had other functions during its long history. Aside from being part of the social life of Didsbury, hosting frequent markets in the basement and social activities, the building was used as a temporary hospital during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918, as well as used as a military training facility for men and women during World War II for the newly formed Canadian Armed Forces.

After the completion of the elementary school and middle school in Didsbury, the building sat mainly empty as part of the inventory of Mountain View County (the school board hadn't been implemented yet). By 1989 the Didsbury and District Historical Society entered into an agreement with the county and started the process of renovating the building to turn it into a museum, which it remains as today. This building was designated a Historic Site in 1997 and recognized as a Provincial Historic Site in 2011. At more than 8,665 square feet, the Didsbury Museum is the largest museum in Mountain View County! The grounds are always open, and although they are a fraction of the size they once were, they still house some benches and picnic tables for you to sit at and relax while you complete the logging requirements.
Both Staff and the Board of Directors of the Didsbury and District Historical Society are aware of, and supportive of, the Virtual Geocache on the Didsbury Museum grounds.
