Schloss Favorite (Ludwigsburg)

Schloss Favorite ist ein barockes Lust- und Jagdschlösschen in Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg. Es liegt auf einer Anhöhe im Favoritepark in direkter Achse nördlich des Residenzschlosses Ludwigsburg.

Es wurde in den Jahren 1717–1723 von Herzog Eberhard Ludwig nach den Entwürfen des Hofbaumeisters Donato Giuseppe Frisoni im Barockstil erbaut.

Schloss Favorite war bereits bei der Planung als reines Jagdschloss und sommerliche Villa ausgelegt worden mit schönem Ausblick auf das Residenzschloss Ludwigsburg.

König Friedrich I. ließ ab 1806 den Schlosspark in einen Tiergarten mit Wild, Gämsen und Hirschen verwandeln. Architekt Nikolaus Friedrich von Thouret renovierte das Innere des Schlösschens im klassizistischen Stil.

Im 20. Jahrhundert geriet das Schloss in Vergessenheit und war in schlechtem Bauzustand, bis es ab etwa 1980 grundlegend restauriert und mit wertvollen Möbeln ausgestattet wurde.

Schloss Favorite ist seit 1983 wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Es zählt zu den landeseigenen Monumenten und wird von der Einrichtung Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten Baden-Württemberg betreut. [Quelle: Wikipedia.de]

Für uns persönlich ist Schloss Favorite sowohl ein Ausflug in unsere eigene Kindheit, als auch eine Erinnerung an die Zeit, als unsere Kinder noch klein waren. Ein Besuch im Favoritepark war ein Klassiker für einen Sonntagnachmittag: Ein schöner Spaziergang, im Winter konnte man die Rehe und Hirsche füttern und streicheln, im Sommer sind wir noch bis zum Schloss Monrepos gegangen , und dort gab es ein Eis. Das kleine Jagdschloss im Herzen des Parks hat uns schon immer viel besser gefallen als das große Ludwigsburger Schloss, weil es einfach viel charmanter und kleiner ist.

Die Wahl für unseren zweiten Virtual ist auf Schloss Favorite gefallen, weil wir persönlich viel damit verbinden, weil es unserer Cachercommunity leicht zugänglich ist und weil Cacher, die nicht aus der Gegend sind, vielleicht das kleine Jagdschloss hinter dem großen Barockschloss übersehen könnten.

Schloss Favorite is a Baroque maison de plaisance and hunting lodge in Ludwigsburg, Germany, which was used as a summer residence and hunting lodge. It is located on a rise, directly north of Ludwigsburg Palace to which it is connected via an avenue.

Schloss Favorite was built from 1717 to 1723 for the sovereign Duke of Württemberg, Eberhard Ludwig, to a design by Donato Giuseppe Frisoni. The model was the Gartenpalais in Vienna. The original plan provided for combining the functions of a hunting castle, surrounded by a vast park and hunting grounds, and a country villa with a beautiful view.

From 1806, King Frederick I of Württemberg converted the park into a ménagerie, containing wild boar, deer and chamois, and the house was used as a hunting lodge. At much the same time, the architect Nikolaus Friedrich von Thouret renovated the building's interior in the neoclassical style.

With the fall of the monarchy in the 20th century, the house was little used, neglected and fell into disrepair. It was restored from 1980 onward, and it opened to the public in 1983. The park has been transformed into a landscape garden, which has since served as an animal park. Today, the originally furnished castle rooms give an insight into courtly life.

Personally for us, Schloss Favorite is a reminder of our own childhood, but also a memory for the times when our children were still small.
We frequently visited the Favorite park on a Sunday afternoon which was always a great favorite indeed: In winter times, we fed the deer and birds, whereas in summer we walked on to nearby Schloss Monrepos where we usually ate an ice-cream.

We have always preferred the small hunting palace at the heart of the park to the grand Ludwigsburg Palace because it is much more charming and snug.

We chose Schloss Favorite as our second Virtual Cache, because we have personal memories connected to it. Then it is at a convenient distance for the cachers in our region, and for cachers from elsewhere it is a little encouragement to look beyond the great Baroque Palace into the park, as we think this little hunting lodge is well worth a visit.
