Novembra 1893 je bila tovorna jadrnica Bukova dolina močno poškodovana v neurju pri Balearskem otočju. Jadrnica je bila last Angela Henrika Jazbeca iz Trsta. Takrat je bil to najbolj znani slovenski ladjar, eden najbogatejših in najvplivnejših. Vihar je potrgal jadra ter zlomil osrednji in zadnji jambor, utonila pa sta tudi dva mornarja. Ladjo so za silo usposobili, da so jo lahko pripeljali v matično pristanišče Trst, kjer so jo nato popravili.
Seveda je Jazbec pred tem začel takoj poizvedovati za primerno drevo za glavni jambor. Na Okrajnem gozdarskem uradu v Ljubljani so mu povedali, da bi takšno drevo dobil na Rakitni pri kmetu Opeki. Ko je izbral primerno hojo in sklenil kupčijo, so se po običajnem »glihanju« dogovorili za ceno. Od stroškov prevoza je šel najzahtevnejši odsek od Rakitne do Cerknice v breme kmeta Opeke, nadaljnji stroški in vse dodatne priprege pa v breme ladjarja.
Orjaško jelko so 16. decembra 1893 posekali rakiški gozdarji. Po ocenah strokovnjakov je bila jelka visoka približno 70 metrov, njen kos, potreben za jambor, pa 64 metrov. Naložili so ga na štiri preme, verjetno so za težavno pot čez Vrnilce do Vrh Prezida in naprej čez zaselke do Cerknice vpregli vse vole iz Rakitne. Pri tem je pomagalo več kot 30 tamkajšnjih krepkih mož in fantov. Kjer je bilo možno, so šli kar naravnost.
Jambor so do Cerknice pripeljali v treh dneh, po ravnem so vlačili s šestimi pari konj, v klance pa so »forajtali« z voli. Pot je vodila čez Rakek, Planino in po izredno prometni Jamborni cesti skozi Studeno, Landol, Razdrto, Senožeče do Sežane in Trsta. Do Ladjedelnice sv. Marka v Miljskem zalivu so prispeli 24. januarja 1894.

In November 1893, the cargo ship Bukova dolina was badly damaged in a storm off the Balearic Islands. The sailboat was the property of Angelo Henrik Jazbec from Trieste. At that time, he was the most famous Slovenian shipowner, one of the richest and most influential. The storm tore the sails and broke the center and rear masts, and two sailors also drowned. They trained the ship to be a force so that they could bring it to the home port of Trieste, where it was then repaired.
Of course, Jazbec immediately began to inquire about a suitable tree for the main mast. At the Regional Forestry Office in Ljubljana, he was told that he could get such a tree on Rakitna from the farmer Opeki. When he chose a suitable walk and made a bargain, they agreed on a price after the usual "giggle". From the transport costs, the most demanding section from Rakitna to Cerknica was borne by the farmer Opeka, and further costs and all additional trailers were borne by the shipowner.
On December 16, 1893, the giant fir tree was cut down by Rakitna foresters. According to experts' estimates, the fir tree was about 70 meters high, and its piece needed for the mast was 64 meters. They loaded it on four axles, probably all the oxen from Rakitna were harnessed for the difficult journey across Vrnilce to Vrh Prezid and on through the hamlets to Cerknica. More than 30 strong local men and boys helped with this. Where possible, they went straight ahead.
The mast was brought to Cerknica in three days, they pulled it with six pairs of horses on the flat, and they "foraged" the slopes with oxen. The route led through Rakek, Planina and along the extremely busy Jamborna road through Studena, Landol, Razdrto, Senožeče to Sežana and Trieste. To Shipyard St. Marko in the Gulf of Milje they arrived on January 24, 1894.
