How to Claim this Virtual Cache (Picture Method)
Since this is a virtual cache, there is no physical log book to sign. Simply take a picture of yourself with the bird in the background, or your reflection in the bird, or write your geocaching name on a piece of paper and take a picture of it (or your GPS device) with the bird. Log the geocache online as usual and include the picture. The picture just needs to demonstrate that you were there yourself.
How to Claim this Virtual Cache (Q&A Method)
If it's not convenient for you to attach a picture to your log, message me the answer to this question instead:
Next to the statue is a bench for sitting, with a plaque attached to it. What is the name of the family mentioned on the plaque? Once that's done, you can log your find online as usual. Do not put the answer in your log.
About The Bird
Dedicated in 2022 to the West Bend community and visitors of the area, the City of West Bend installed a new sculpture to the Riverwalk. The forged stainless steel sculpture, Bird of Hope and Joy - lovingly known as The Bird - was created by artist Sheila Berger. The Bird is an acquisition and donation from the West Bend Friends of Sculpture to the city. Standing seven feet tall (not including the base), it is the newest piece of the Friends of Sculpture collection of several dozen public art works displayed throughout the city.
Friends of Sculpture worked closely with the City of West Bend to secure this amazing Riverwalk location. A flood plain study and extensive site work were conducted in advance of the installation.
“My hope is to elevate the small creatures on our planet that bring us so much joy and beauty,” said artist Sheila Berger. “The sculpture was designed with the intention of it being located along a riverbend. Downtown West Bend is the perfect perch.”
