Placed on Fathers Day in memory of my dad (John S Ross) who was from Bettyhill. Torrisdale was his favourite beach and we enjoyed a New Year's day walk every year along the full length of the beach, always stopping for a break (or picnic) at the stripy rock (as we called it).
There are two options for getting to GZ. Waypoints included.
Waypoint 1 is to park at the post box on the A836 by the Naver Bridge and follow the road to Invernaver (no parking beyond the post box), then through the gate (waypoint 2) and follow the arrow across the dunes.
Waypoint 3 is to park in the small car park on the Borgie Road, go down the steps, across the bridge, then follow the path along the River Borgie all the way to the beach. This is the shortest route and our favourite.
If the tide is low enough you will see the remains of the SS John Randolph that ran aground in September 1952 after breaking tow.
To claim this virtual you need to attach two photos as follows to your log.
1. A photo of your caching name written in the sand.
2. A photo of you, your dog, thumb, or something personal with any part of the stripy rock CLEARLY (not a distance shot) in the background.
Alternatively, one photo CLEARLY (not a distance shot) showing the rock and your name in the sand will suffice.
ANY 'FOUND IT' LOGS WITHOUT YOUR NAME IN THE SAND AND THE ROCK IN THEM WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTIFICATION.
