Geocache Description:

Welcome to Presque Isle Park in Marquette, "Upper" Michigian.

I've been a lover of the "UP" since 2012 when I first met the shores of Lake Superior. Presque Isle is one of several favorite annual stops of mine. This side of the isle in particular I've always referred to as "My Happy Place"...This is where I am at peace. I enjoy going down into the little "coves" to be alone, listen to the waves crash, while checking out all of the pretty rocks. The geology of Upper Michigan and our Great Lakes, is truly something special; you'll find the rocks vary from each access spot as you travel along Lake Superior.

I was awarded the opportunity to place a virtual cache and this was the very first place that came to mind. There are already several physical caches available to find along Presque Isle Park, along with an earth cache, so let's make it a "one-stop-shop" by adding an opportunity for those to find a virtual cache.

To log this cache, my only ask is for you to post a photo of your GPS and/or the view, at this scenic spot. Optional to include a note as to what brings you to this area. Logs with a missing photo will be removed!

I hope you find this place as beautiful and serene as I do. There are plenty of great places to check out in the UP... Highly recommend taking a 25 minute drive East to check out a very cool, very large, FREE, sculpture park called Lakenland. (pretty sure there is a geocache there too!) wink

Happy Caching!

Peter White Drive

The drive is open for park hours 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily in summer months. However, during this time, the seasonal portion of Peter White Drive closes to vehicular traffic during Walking Hours to allow for foot traffic.

Winter hours at Presque Isle Park are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.  The seasonal portion of Peter White Drive closes to vehicular traffic when snow accumulation begins.  The seasonal drive remains closed through the winter months.  The south portion of Peter White Drive is plowed and open during park hours throughout the winter months.  Presque Isle Park seasonal loop is closed to vehicular traffic for the winter season.

Bikes are welcome on Peter White Drive year round.  Please use paved pathways only when biking at Presque Isle Park.
