In preparation for our holiday, we noticed this interesting place with a story to go with it. It was clear to us that we wanted to take a look at it and because we liked it so much, we want to take you to the throne.
According to an Icelandic legend, trolls turn to stone when they are exposed to sunlight. In this story, a troll had stayed out too late at night and hurried across the flat mountains to find a sheltered hiding place before sunrise.
He stumbled across the cliffs overlooking Isafjordur and used their shade to protect himself. Needing rest after his panicked journey, he rested in a hollow on the cliff face and healed his worn feet in the water of the bay.
The weight of this huge troll moulded the hollow into a smooth seat. The troll's feet created the natural harbour of Isafjordur.

In Vorbereitung auf unseren Urlaub fiel uns diese interessante Stelle mit der dazu passenden Geschichte auf. Für uns war klar, dass wir uns das anschauen wollen und weil es uns so gefallen hat, wollen wir euch auch zu dem Thron führen.
Einer isländischen Legende zufolge werden Trolle zu Stein, wenn sie dem Sonnenlicht ausgesetzt sind. In dieser Geschichte war ein Troll zu lange in der Nacht geblieben und eilte über die flachen Berge, um vor Sonnenaufgang ein geschütztes Versteck zu finden.
Er stolperte über die Klippen mit Blick auf den Isafjordur und nutzte deren Schatten, um sich zu schützen. Er brauchte Ruhe nach seiner panischen Reise und ruhte sich in einer Vertiefung an der Felswand aus und heilte seine abgenutzten Füße im Wasser der Bucht.
Das Gewicht dieses riesigen Trolls formte die Vertiefung zu einer glatten Sitzfläche. Die Füße des Trolls schufen den natürlichen Hafen von Isafjordur.
Eure Aufgabe ist es, ein Bild mit euch oder eurem Maskottchen vor dem Briefkasten des Gipfelbuches zu machen und es an euren Log anzuhängen. Gerne könnt ihr euch auch in das Gipfelbuch eintragen und dann ein Bild davon neben dem Briefkasten machen. Wir freuen uns auf viele schöne Bilder.
