Zazpizaleak son 7 calles medievales paralelas que dan nombre al casco viejo de Bilbao. Habitadas desde la fundación de la ciudad hasta el presente, se encontraban rodeadas por una muralla de la que tan sólo quedan reductos. En el mapa siguen manteniendo la disposición original, aunque sus fachadas han experimentado muchos cambios y reconstrucciones, modernizándose a lo largo de los siglos. En sus nombres, perdura la esencia de la villa amurallada de Bilbao: los gremios que en ellas se asentaron, o términos relacionados con su posición o importancia.
Merece la pena pasear por estas calles llenas de historia y que siempre tienen algo que ofrecer al visitante. Este Virtual tiene la humilde intención de llevar al geocacher a tal vez encontrar un detalle nuevo en el casco viejo, a base de una pequeña búsqueda de curiosidades u objetos insólitos a tu elección.

Zazpizaleak in Euskera means "7 streets", referring to the 7 parallel medieval streets that give the old town of Bilbao its name. Inhabited from the city’s founding all the way to the present day, they were once enclosed by a wall, of which only small remnants remain. On the map, the streets still retain their original layout, although their façades have undergone many changes and reconstructions, modernizing over the centuries. Their names preserve the essence of Bilbao's walled town, reflecting the guilds that once settled there or terms related to their location or significance.
It’s well worth taking a stroll through these historic streets, which always have something to offer to their visitors. This Virtual cache humbly aims to guide geocachers toward discovering something new in the Old Town — through a fun little search for curiosities or unusual objects of your choice.
