PLEASE BE SURE TO PARK IN THE DESIGNATED VISITOR PARKING SPACES,
AND NOT IN THE FIRE TRUCK LANES!!!
September 11, 2001 is a day most of us will remember for the rest of our lives. Although an Arizona resident now, I moved here from NYC 6 years prior (where I worked for NYPD). My heart was heavy and hurting for weeks and months to come. I later learned that one of my coworkers from the Police Academy Training Unit, Glenn Pettit, perished that day. This cache is dedicated to him. RIP Officer Pettit.
In all, 72 NYPD officers and 343 FDNY firefighters lost their lives that fateful day. What's worse, the illnesses from the toxicity of ground zero has since claimed 229 more police officers and 343 additional firefighters (as many as 9/11). Of course, first responders weren't the only victims, with approximately 2,777 more Americans lost that day on this attack on America, with more subsequent deaths as a result of exposure from ground zero.
With the hard work of Scott Jablow (Sedona Fire District Board Member and Chairman of the 9/11 Memorial Committee), he was able to bring a piece of the World Trade Center to Sedona where a memorial was constructed. 100% of the cost for the memorial came from community donations. This memorial is open to the public and on every morning of September 11th, the Sedona Fire District holds a memorial ceremony toremember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We Shall Never Forget.
To get credit for this Virtual Cache, email or message me the answers to the following questions:
1) How many flood lights are there ON THE GROUND in front of the two informational plaques and WTC beam?
2) How many square metal boxes are in the ground behind the two informational plaques and WTC beam?
3) What is the last name of the "Retired SFD Fire Chief" listed on the 9/11 Memorial Donors Wall?
4) What year was this Fire Station (#6) dedicated? (plaque on building to the right of the front door).
ADDITIONALLY, you will need to take a photo showing the World Trade Center beam with any one of the following in the same picture:
a) Any geocaching related item (i.e. hat, logo, pen, TB logo (with or without a #), shirt, etc) that would easily be recognized as someone that geocaches; or
b) Something with your geocaching name written on it (i.e. nametag, a piece of paper with your caching name; or
c) A picture of something personal or a portion of you (i.e. draw a smiley face on your thumb - saw this on a Las Vegas virtual and pretty cool idea).
FOUND LOGS THAT DO NOT MEET ALL THE CRITERIA (ANSWERS + PHOTO) WITHIN 24 HOURS OF POSTING AS FOUND WILL BE DELETED.
Rest in Peace to all those lost as a result of the events of that day we shall never forget.
