Is it John, Richard or Dick? 
His real name is John Palmer.......... Come, seek out his final resting place. If you are lucky (or unlucky!) you may even see his ghost which has reportedly been seen in the vicinity.
Notorious criminals have often been romanticised and John Palmer was such, thanks mainly to his depiction in a gothic novel. What he actually looked like must have been a shock to many who would have imagined a dashing, heroic and handsome figure on horseback!
There is an interesting information board at GZ about his life and travels and the cell where he spent the final 6 months of his life is nearby (though this is in a museum and there is a charge to visit)
Logging Requirements
1. At the south east corner of John’s grave is a horizontal stone slab. There are 2 names on the 3rd line of this stone, please tell us what they are (first names only) by email or via the messaging centre You do not need to wait for a reply before logging, we will contact you if your answer is wrong
2. A photograph taken at GZ that proves you were there. If you really wanted to enter into the spirit of things you could wear a mask but, if you truly are camera shy, then how about an item that's personal to you or a piece of paper showing your caching name and the date.

3/2/2024 Since publication we have been informed there have been caches around here in the past…. GC26247 (archived 2014)and GC6X21X (archived 2022) … they make for interesting reading! We even found one of them 😳 please forgive us - It was 10 years ago!
