IL COLONNATO
Il Colonnato di Piazza San Pietro fu realizzato tra il 1656 e il 1667 da Gian Lorenzo Bernini sotto il patrocinio di Papa Alessandro VII, ispirandosi all'arte barocca italiana.
Composto da 284 colonne e 88 pilastri divisi in 4 file, circonda la piazza con un'ampia curva.
Bernini progettĂČ questa struttura, spiegĂČ, per "simboleggiare le braccia della Chiesa cattolica che si aprono per accogliere maternamente i pellegrini".
Visivamente, il colonnato Ăš un'opera dalle proporzioni perfette che genera un movimento fluido e dinamico, a "semiciclo", invitando ad avanzare verso la basilica. Accentua visivamente l'altezza della facciata progettata da Carlo Maderno all'epoca considerata troppo bassa. Questo effetto di ingrandimento fu volutamente ricercato da Bernini, per aumentare l'impatto visivo dell'ingresso alla basilica.
140 statue di santi ornano il colonnato: i difensori della fede sono posizionati nell'emiciclo settentrionale, i papi, i vescovi e i riformatori occupano quello meridionale, mentre i santi martiri e quelli venerati come taumaturghi ornano i due bracci orizzontali.
Il colonnato di Piazza San Pietro non Ăš solo un'opera d'arte che evoca la fede e l'arte barocca italiana, ma anche un'opera di grande complessitĂ tecnica.
L'ILLUSIONE OTTICA
Nonostante le 4 file di colonne, c'Ăš un modo, dalla piazza, per vedere attraverso il Colonnato...
Cercate i due cerchi di marmo bianco con la scritta "Centro del Colonnato" su entrambi i lati dell'obelisco..
(Le coordinate della cache puntano al cerchio tra l'Obelisco e la Fontana del Bernini, a sud della piazza.)
Appoggiandoci sopra i piedi, vi troverete esattamente al centro del colonnato che si trova dietro la fontana di fronte a voi.
Assisterai quindi a una sorprendente illusione ottica:
la visione di una singola fila di colonne quando in realtĂ sono posizionate su 4 file!
Un effetto visivo voluto dal "Bernini" che, per ottenerlo, fece in modo che il diametro di ogni fila di colonne aumentasse lateralmente da una colonna all'altra. La colonna interna delle ali, quella che vedete, Ăš quella con il diametro maggiore (1,42 m).
PER REGISTRARE QUESTA CACHE VIRTUALE:
1a - Posizionatevi su uno dei due cerchi di marmo.
1b - Se il cerchio di marmo non Ăš accessibile, posizionatevi alla stessa altezza del passaggio che consente ai visitatori di uscire dalla basilica e che molto raramente viene chiusa.
1c - Se il cerchio di biglie non Ăš accessibile e il passaggio Ăš chiuso, cosa che accade molto raramente, non sarĂ possibile immortalare l'illusione ottica e quindi non sarĂ possibile registrare questa cache virtuale. đ
2 - Scatta una foto dell'allineamento perfetto delle colonne*, scegliendo tra: un selfie o un elemento che ti identifichi come geocacher (GPS, badge, soprannome scritto su un foglio o sulla mano) perché non sei obbligato a mostrare il proprio volto.
3 - Allega la foto al tuo registro. I registri senza foto personale verranno eliminati.
(*) Precisazione importante: Qualsiasi foto che non mostri il perfetto allineamento delle colonne e quindi l'illusione ottica, non Ú valida. Per quello ? perché le migliaia di geocacher che hanno visitato Saint Pierre prima della pubblicazione di questa cache virtuale hanno potuto registrarla come "Trovato".
E soprattutto perché alcuni geocacher non leggono le istruzioni e guardano solo la galleria fotografica per sapere cosa fotografare per soddisfare i requisiti. Dopo diversi difficili scambi con alcuni di loro che avevano preso foto pubblicate dai visitatori precedenti come cattivi esempi, ora verranno conservate solo le foto che soddisfano i requisiti.

THE COLONNADE
The Colonnade of St. Peter's Square was built between 1656 and 1667 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini under the patronage of Pope Alexander VII, inspired by Italian Baroque art.
Consisting of 284 columns and 88 pillars divided into 4 rows, it encircles the square in a wide curve.
Bernini designed this structure to, he explained: "symbolize the arms of the Catholic Church opening to maternally receive pilgrims".
Visually, the colonnade is a work of perfect proportions that generates a fluid and dynamic movement in a "semicycle" inviting one to advance towards the basilica. It visually accentuates the height of the façade designed by Carlo Maderno considered too low at the time. This enlargement effect was intentionally sought by Bernini, to increase the visual impact of the entrance to the basilica.
140 statues of saints adorn the colonnade: the defenders of the faith are positioned on the northern hemicycle, the popes, bishops and reformers occupy the southern, while the martyr saints and those venerated as miracle workers adorn the two horizontal arms.
The colonnade of St. Peter's Square is not only a work evoking faith and Italian Baroque art, but it is also a work of great technical complexity.
THE OPTICAL ILLUSION
Despite the 4 rows of columns, there is a way to see through the Colonnade from the square...
Look for the two white marble circles marked " Centro del Colonnato" on either side of the obelisk.
(The cache coordinates point to the circle between the Obelisk and Bernini's Fountain to the south of the square.)
By placing your feet on it, you will find yourself exactly in the center of the colonnade which is behind the fountain in front of you.
You will then witness an astonishing optical illusion:
the vision of a single row of columns when in fact they are positioned in 4 rows!
A visual effect wanted by Bernini who, to achieve it, made sure that the diameter of each row of columns increases laterally from one column to another. The internal column of the wings, the one you see, is the one with the largest diameter (1.42 m).
TO LOG THIS VIRTUAL CACHE:
1a - Stand on one of the two marble circles.
1b - If the marble circle is inaccessible, stand at the same height in the walkway that allows visitors to exit the basilica and which is very rarely closed.
1c - If the marble circle is inaccessible and the walkway is closed, which happens extremely rarely, you will not be able to immortalize the optical illusion and therefore you will not be able to log this virtual cache. đ
2 - Take a photo of the perfect alignment of the columns* by including your choice: a selfie or an element identifying you as a geocacher (GPS, badge, nickname written on paper or on your hand) because you are not obliged to show your face.
3 - Send the photo with your log. Logs without a personal photo will be deleted.
(*) Important clarification: Any photo that does not show the perfect alignment of the columns and therefore the optical illusion, is not valid. Why? Because the thousands of geocachers who visited Saint Peter's before this virtual cache was published could then log it as "Found it".
And also, especially because some geocachers don't read the guidelines and simply look at the photo gallery to figure out what to photograph to meet the requirements. After several difficult exchanges with some of them who had taken photos posted by previous visitors as bad examples, only photos that meet the requirements will now be kept.

En plaçant vos pieds dessus, vous vous trouverez exactement en plein centre de la colonnade qui se trouve derriÚre la fontaine qui vous fait face.
Vous serez alors tĂ©moin d'une Ă©tonnante illusion dâoptique :
la vision dâune seule rangĂ©e de colonnes alors quâen fait, elles sont positionnĂ©es sur 4 rangĂ©es !
Un effet visuel voulu par "Le Bernin" qui, pour y arriver, a fait en sorte que le diamĂštre de chaque rangĂ©e de colonnes augmente latĂ©ralement dâune colonne Ă lâautre. La colonne interne des ailes, celle que vous voyez, Ă©tant celle possĂ©dant le plus grand diamĂštre (1,42 m).
POUR LOGUER CETTE CACHE VIRTUELLE :

2 - Prenez une photo de l'alignement parfait des colonnes * en intĂ©grant au choix : un selfie ou un Ă©lĂ©ment vous identifiant en tant que gĂ©ocacheur (gps, badge, pseudo Ă©crit sur papier ou sur la main) car vous n'ĂȘtes pas obligĂ© de montrer votre visage.
3 - Joignez la photo à votre log. Les logs sans photo personnelle seront supprimés.

Et aussi surtout car certains géocacheurs ne lisent pas les consignes et se contentent de regarder la galerie des photos pour savoir ce qu'il faut photographier pour répondre aux exigences. AprÚs plusieurs échanges difficiles avec certains d'entre eux qui avaient pris pour mauvais exemples des photos postées par des visiteurs précédents, ne seront conservées désormais que les photos qui répondent aux exigences.

Halten Sie Ausschau nach den beiden weiĂen Marmorkreisen mit der Aufschrift âCentro del Colonnatoâ auf beiden Seiten des Obelisken.

Wenn Sie Ihre FĂŒĂe darauf stellen, befinden Sie sich genau in der Mitte der Kolonnade, die sich hinter dem Brunnen vor Ihnen befindet.
Sie werden dann Zeuge einer erstaunlichen optischen TĂ€uschung:
die Vision einer einzelnen SÀulenreihe, obwohl sie tatsÀchlich in 4 Reihen angeordnet sind!
Ein optischer Effekt, den sich âBerniniâ wĂŒnschte. Um ihn zu erreichen, achtete er darauf, dass der Durchmesser jeder SĂ€ulenreihe von einer SĂ€ule zur nĂ€chsten seitlich zunimmt. Die innere FlĂŒgelsĂ€ule, die Sie sehen, hat den gröĂten Durchmesser (1,42 m).
UM DIESEN VIRTUELLEN CACHE PROTOKOLLIEREN:
1a - Platzieren Sie sich auf einem der beiden Marmorkreise.
1b - Wenn der Marmorkreis nicht zugÀnglich ist, stellen Sie sich auf gleicher Höhe in den Gang, der den Besuchern den Ausgang aus der Basilika ermöglicht und nur sehr selten geschlossen ist.

2 - Machen Sie ein Foto von der perfekten Ausrichtung der SĂ€ulen *, einschlieĂlich eines Selfies oder etwas, das Sie als Geocacher identifiziert (GPS, Abzeichen, Benutzername auf Papier oder auf Ihrer Hand), da Sie Ihr Gesicht nicht zeigen mĂŒssen.
3 - HÀngen Sie das Foto an Ihr Protokoll an. Logs ohne persönliches Foto werden gelöscht.

Und auch insbesondere, weil manche Geocacher die Richtlinien nicht lesen und sich nur in der Fotogalerie umsehen, was sie fotografieren mĂŒssen, um die Anforderungen zu erfĂŒllen. Nach mehreren schwierigen Auseinandersetzungen mit einigen von ihnen, die von frĂŒheren Besuchern gepostete Fotos als schlechte Beispiele verwendet hatten, werden jetzt nur noch Fotos aufbewahrt, die den Anforderungen entsprechen.
