Geocache Description:

The coordinates take you to the front of the building at 330 University Avenue, in downtown Toronto.

When completed in 1951, this was the third tallest building in Toronto.  Today it’s dwarfed by the CN Tower, along with over 50 other buildings, but its unique light displays and colours make it unmistakable - and they’ll give you the weather forecast!

If you look up about 100 metres you will see a Weather Beacon on top of the building.
You may have to move back a bit, to be able to see it.

From my experience, many people who live in the Greater Toronto Area don’t even know that this weather beacon exists.  That’s what gave me the idea to create a virtual cache here.  Sort of a Public Service Announcement.  And I’m glad that I finally got the privilege to have my own virtual.

How the weather beacon works:
The weather is updated four times a day:
•    7am – weather forecast for the morning
•    11am – weather forecast for the afternoon
•    3pm – weather forecast for the evening
•    7pm – weather forecast for the following day

The colour AT THE TOP of the tower the Beacon:
•    Solid Green = clear weather
•    Solid Red = cloudy
•    Flashing red = rain
•    Flashing white = snow

The lights ON THE TOWER portion:
•    Lights shooting up = temperature is warming
•    Lights shooting down = temperature is cooling
•    Lights steady = steady temperature

Logging Requirements - NO NEED TO MESSAGE ME

1.  In your log, describe the weather conditions according to the beacon.  Is the forecast clear, cloudy, rain or snow?  Is it getting warmer, cooler or staying steady?

2.  Optionally in your log, let us know if you knew that there was a weather beacon here, or if this virtual taught you something new.

3.  Include a photo in your log to prove you were there, either of the beacon, or the front of the building.  Make sure you are in the photo (you do not have to show your face), or alternatively, include something in the photo that shows you were there, your GPS, a personal item, your finger pointing, a thumbs up, your caching name, etc.

The photo showing that you were there is very important.

Any logs without a valid photo will be deleted.

No need to message me.
