Der Reiherbrunnen ist einer der zahlreichen dekorativen Brunnen in Baden-Baden, aber einer der wenigen, aus denen tatsächlich Thermalwasser sprudelt. Er wurde 1908 nach einem Entwurf des Karlsruher Bildhauers Karl Albiker errichtet und stand bis 1966 auf der Höhe des Sonnenplatzes. In Vorbereitung auf die Landesgartenschau 1981 wurde er an den heutigen Standort versetzt. Früher führte er 42° heißes Thermalwasser, das allerdings heute aufgrund des hohen Arsengehalts der Quelle beim Friedrichsbad mit vorgefiltertem Wasser aus verschiedenen anderen Thermalquellen gemischt wird und nur noch 28° warm ist, dafür aber als Trinkwasser gilt.

En préparation de l'exposition horticole régionale de 1981, il a été déplacé à son site actuel. Autrefois, elle contenait de l'eau thermale à 42°, mais aujourd'hui, en raison de la teneur élevée en arsenic de la source près du Friedrichsbad, elle est mélangée à de l'eau préfiltrée provenant de différentes autres sources thermales et n'est plus qu'à 28°, mais elle est considérée comme de l'eau potable.

It used to carry thermal water at a temperature of 42°, but today, due to the high arsenic content of the spring at Friedrichsbad, it is mixed with pre-filtered water from various other thermal springs and is now only 28° warm, but is considered drinking water.
