[HU] Kecskemét Bács-Kiskun vármegye, azon belül a Kecskeméti járás székhelye. Magyarország népesség szerint nyolcadik, területe alapján a hetedik legnagyobb város.
"Becenevét" Petőfi Sándor Hírös város az aafődön Kecskemét... című versében kapta. A város jelmondata: "Sem magasság, sem mélység nem rettent."

[EN] Kecskemét is the county seat of Bács-Kiskun and the Kecskeméti district. It is the eighth largest city in Hungary by population and the seventh largest by area.
The "nickname" of Kecskemét comes from the poem of Sándor Petőfi (who was a famous Hungarian writer). The title Hírös város az aafődön Kecskemét... can be translated to "Kecskemét is a famous city on the Great Plain" written in dialect. The motto of the city is: "Neither height nor depth can scare (me/us)."

A feltöltött fotókon szerepelhetsz te magad is; ha ezt nem szeretnéd, akkor valamilyen hozzád köthető tárgy, vagy a felhasználóneved egy papíron, telefonod kijelzőjén, stb. is elfogadható.
Fényképek nélküli, illetve a fenti feltételeket nem teljesítő (nem ismerhető fel valamely meglátogatandó helyszín, nem kötehető hozzád a feltöltött kép, ...) logok törlésre kerülnek.

[EN] To log this virtual cache you need to take a short walk in the city of Kecskemét, visit five places and upload photos made at these stages to verify. These places to visit can be found at the listing of waypoints. It is the best if you are on the uploaded photos. If you do not want to show your face on these photos you can take one of your personal items, your nickname on a piece of paper (or on your phone's display) to verify your visit.
Logs without the required photos or which do not meet the rules (photos were not made at the requested stages, cannot be determined if a photo is yours, ...) will be deleted.

[1.] Kodály Zoltán szülőháza - The birthplace of Zoltán Kodály

[HU] Kodály Zoltán (Kecskemét, 1882. december 16. - Budapest, 1967. március 6.) háromszoros Kossuth-díjas, valamint kiváló művész címmel kitüntetett magyar zeneszerző, zenetudós, zeneoktató, népzenekutató, 1946-tól 1949-ig a Magyar Tudomány Akadémia elnöke, a róla elnevezett Kodály-módszer megalkotója.

[EN] Zoltán Kodály (Kecskemét, 16 December 1882 - Budapest, 6 March 1967) was a Hungarian composer, ethnomusicologist, music pedagogue, linguist, and philosopher. He is well known internationally as the creator of the Kodály method of music education.

[2.] Tudomány és Művészetek háza - House of Science and Arts

[HU] A egykori zsinagóga 1864 és 1868 között épült, mór és romantikus stílusban. Egy földrengés 1911-ben megrongálta az épületet, amelyet 1966-ban megvásárolt Kecskemét városa és 1974-ben átalakítottak. Látogatható kiállítótermében 15 Michelangelo-szobor másolata található, illetve rendezvény- és koncerthelyszínként több könnyűzenei koncertnek is adott már otthont.

[EN] The former synagogue was built between 1864 and 1868 in Moorish and Romantic style. An earthquake in 1911 damaged the building, which was bought by the city of Kecskemét in 1966 and remodeled in 1974. You can visit its exhibition hall where you can find replicas of 15 Michelangelo statues. As event and concert venue, it already hosted some music concerts.

[3.] Városháza - City Hall

[HU] A városháza 1893 és 1897 között épült, szecessziós stílusban, Lechner Ödön és Pártos Gyula tervei alapján. Az épület külső részén megtalálható Árpád fejedelem szobra, a magyar történelem meghatározó alakjainak arcképeinek domboművei, illetve Magyarország és Kecskemét város címere. Belső tereiben Székely Bertalan magyar festőművész freskói, illetve további kiemelkedő magyar történelmi személyekről készült festmények láthatók.

[EN] The City Hall was built between 1893 and 1897 in art nouveau style, based on the design of Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos. On the outside of the building you can find the statue of Árpád (Head of the Hungarian tribes), reliefs depicting the portraits of important figures of Hungarian history, and the coat of arms of Hungary and the city of Kecskemét. In its interior you can see frescoes of the famous Hungarian painter Bertalan Székely, as well as paintings of other prominent Hungarian historical figures.

[4.] Katona József Színház - Katona József Theatre

[HU] Az 1895 és 1896 között felépült színház a millenniumi rendezvénysorozat részeként került átadásra. Nevét a Bánk bán dráma szerzőjéről, a kecskeméti születésű Katona Józsefről kapta, aki már 1826-ban indítványozta egy színház alapítását a városban. Az épület eklektikus stílusú, neobarokk díszítőelemekkel, főhomlokzatán Kisfaludy Károly és Katona József szoborportréi láthatók.

[EN] The theater built between 1895 and 1896 and was opened as part of the millennium event series. It was named after József Katona, the author of the drama Bánk bán, who was born in Kecskemét and who proposed the establishment of a theater in the town in 1826. The building has eclectic style with neobaroque decorations. On the main facade you can see the sculpture portraits of Károly Kisfaludy and József Katona.

[5.] Latabár Kálmán szülőháza - The birthplace of Kálmán Latabár

[HU] Latabár Kálmán (Kecskemét, 1902. november 24. – Budapest, 1970. január 10.) Kossuth-díjas magyar színművész, érdemes és kiváló művész, a 20. század egyik legnépszerűbb magyar komikusa, becenevén: Latyi. Színészként több kiváló színpadi darabban (Kálmán Imre: Csárdáskirálynő és Marica grófnő, Lehár Ferenc: A víg özvegy, Strauss: A denevér) és filmben (Egy bolond százat csinál (1942), Egy szoknya, egy nadrág (1942), Mágnás Miska (1948), Janika (1949), Állami Áruház (1952)) is játszott.

[EN] Kálmán Latabár (Kecskemét, 24 November 1902 – Budapest, 10 January 1970) was a famous Hungarian comedian and film actor during the war and post-war years and in the early days of Hungarian television. He was a talented song-and-dance man, played in operettas, musicals, and comic routines in variety shows.
