Geocache Description:

Pyramid Island has been a popular spot for visitors and locals since the 1930s when the first footbridge was built. Over 60 years of uncontrolled traffic heavily impacted the island which never had a formal trail system. Over three years in the 2000s, the island’s soil and plant life were rehabilitated, defined pathways were installed and interpretive signage was developed. Please stay on the trails.

I was always fascinated by this bridge and island as a young child. I always looked forward to visiting Jasper, walking across the bridge and looking for the tiny fishies in the lake. And also to explore the island while trying to be brave that there were no bears on the island... right?! Ah, good memories! I still stop here and visit as often as I can.

How to log this cache:

  • To claim a find on this virtual geocache, you must prove that you were here after this cache was published. Previous visits do not count. To do so, attach the following two photos to your log. There is no need to message or email me. I can see your photos to determine if you meet the logging requirements for this cache.
  • Photo 1: Attach a photo of yourself on the bridge, showing the bridge. Hold something in your hands that shows the date of your visit (handwritten sign, newspaper, etc...)
    • If you do not wish to have your face in the photo, you may submit a photo of any other Geocaching-themed item (ie., travel bug, nametag, Signal the Frog stuffy, cache container, etc...) - as long as the photo is taken on the bridge.
    • I leave it to the finder to choose how to frame the photo - with Pyramid Mountain, the island, or anything else in the background. Be as creative as you'd like.
  • Photo 2: Attach another photo taken anywhere else in Jasper National Park. This photo can be scenery, wildlife, wildflowers, historical items, or anything else that caught your eye while visiting. This photo does NOT require the current date, your face, or a geocaching item.

A valid park pass is necessary to visit Jasper National Park and access this Geocache.
