... oder: Ein Spaziergang durch das Wiesbadener Kurviertel
Wiesbaden ist Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts zu einer bedeutenden Kurstadt aufgestiegen. Zu verdanken hat sie dies ihren zahlreichen Thermal- und Mineralquellen. Die geologische Erklärung ist interessant - aber schöner finden wir die Sage vom Riesen Ekko. Diese findest Du am Startpunkt des Caches. Dort kannst Du Dir auch einen kurzen Film über ihn ansehen.
Der Speer von Ekko steckt nicht grundlos an dieser Stelle. Er markiert symbolisch die bekannteste der Wiesbadener Quellen - den Kochbrunnen. Das Wasser kocht nicht, sondern hat durchgängig ca. 67° C, aber im Winter dampft es so sehr, dass es so aussieht. Rundum siehst Du noch Reste der Wandelhalle. 2 ehemalige Grand Hotels, das Palast-Hotel und das Hotel Rose, letzteres beherbergt nun die Staatskanzlei, sowie ein bestehendes und gleichzeitig das älteste Grand Hotel Europas, der Schwarze Bock, liegen ebenfalls am Platz.
Begib Dich auf einen Streifzug durch das Kurviertel. Gehe zum Speer des Riesen Ekko, die benötigten Informationen für den Start findest Du auf der Tafel daneben.
Du benötigst:
- Smartphone mit eingeschaltetem GPS
- Im Laufe des Caches werden mehrere Websites aufgerufen. Bei einer musst Du die Abfrage des Standortes erlauben, sonst funktioniert die Navigation nicht.
- Einen Zettel mit Deinem Cachernamen.
Die Logbedingungen ergeben sich im weiteren Verlauf.

... or: A walk through Wiesbaden's spa quarter
Wiesbaden became an important spa town at the end of the 19th century. It has its numerous thermal and mineral springs to thank for this. The geological explanation is interesting - but we like the legend of the giant Ekko better. You will find this at the starting point of the cache. You can also watch a short film about him there.
Ekko's spear is not in this place for no reason. It symbolically marks the most famous of Wiesbaden's springs - the Kochbrunnen. The water does not boil, but is always around 67° C, but in winter it steams so much that it looks like this. All around you can still see the remains of a walking hall. 2 former grand hotels and the existing and at the same time the oldest grand hotel in Europe, Schwarzer Bock, are also located on the square.
Take a stroll through the spa district. Go to Ekko's spear, you will find the information you need for the start on the board next to it.
You will need:
- Smartphone with GPS switched on
- Several websites will be called up during the cache. You must allow the location to be requested on one of them, otherwise the navigation will not work.
- A piece of paper with your cache name.
