 Oldest operating Roller Coaster in Spain 

Legend has it that many, many years ago, in those distant times when the Northmen devastated these coasts, breaking the peaceful life of its people, three sorceresses conspired to put an end to the Viking raids.

The menacing longships that defied winds and storms by crossing the seas to devastate their villages would have to deal with the fury of the sorceresses Mari Zaharra, Mari and Mari Txiki: “The Three Marys”.

The first warning for the fearsome sea dragons would come in the form of an impetuous wave with which Mari Txiki would shake their ships, causing them to change course. If the warning was not heeded, it would be Mari who, with a second and imposing wave, would make them capsize.

Fear would take over them, inviting them to turn. If they did not give up either, a third gigantic wave would sink their ships. This was to happen and this is what happened: the Viking longships succumbed to an immense third wave, that of Mari Zaharra, which swallowed them.

However, in the midst of the calm that followed the spell of the waves, the most ferocious and ruthless of the northern dragons reappeared. His silhouette was drawn menacingly on the horizon. With no time to lose, the sorceresses joined forces, launching themselves against the ship that, for a moment, seemed to resist the onslaught of a wave of enormous proportions...

Much later, someone commented that the waves that wiped out the Viking longships were as big as the Swiss mountains.

But did that last longship really sink? To know the answer you will have to relive his experience on the Swiss Mountain of the Monte Igueldo Amusement Park. What are you waiting for?

The Montaña Suiza (Swiss Mountain) is a hidden gem within our peninsula. Opened in 1928 at the Monte Igueldo amusement park, it remains the oldest roller coaster currently operating in Spain. Unlike other roller coasters, this one does not have a wooden or steel support structure, but rather the rails are built on a cement path. Its route, 400 meters long, runs through buildings and walls, thus completing an oval-shaped circuit.

!!!! Photos of the station, not riding the train, or photos with the train in the background will not be accepted !!!!

It should be clearly seen that you have ride it. If not, it's not funny...

Keep in mind that loose articles are not allowed while on Montaña Suiza, so I encourage you to take the picture with the train stopped at the station, or ask for another person to take a picture of you at the station or from a viewpoint (There's a lookout at the waypoints).

   Any log not meeting those three requirements will be deleted without notice.

 Montaña Rusa operativa más antigua de España 

Cuenta la leyenda que hace muchos, muchos años, en aquellos lejanos tiempos en que los hombres del Norte asolaban estas costas rompiendo la tranquila vida de sus gentes, tres hechiceras se conjuraron para acabar con las incursiones vikingas.

Los amenazadores drakkars que desafiaban vientos y tormentas atravesando los mares para devastar sus aldeas, tendrían que vérselas con la furia de las hechiceras Mari Zaharra, Mari y Mari Txiki: “Las Tres Marías”.

El primer aviso para los temibles dragones marinos vendría en forma de una ola impetuosa con la que Mari Txiki sacudiría sus naves haciéndoles variar el rumbo. Si la advertencia no era atendida sería Mari la que, con una segunda e imponente ola, les haría zozobrar.

El miedo se apoderaría de ellos invitándoles a virar. Si tampoco así se dieran por vencidos, una tercera ola gigantesca hundiría sus naves. Así había de ocurrir y así ocurrió: los drakkars vikingos sucumbieron ante una inmensa tercera ola, la de Mari Zaharra, que se los tragó.

Sin embargo, en medio de la calma que siguió al conjuro de las olas, reapareció el más feroz y despiadado de los dragones del norte. Su silueta se dibujó amenazadora en el horizonte. Sin tiempo que perder, las hechiceras aunaron sus fuerzas lanzándose contra la nave que, por un momento, pareció resistir el embate de una ola de proporciones descomunales…

Mucho tiempo después, alguien comentó que las olas que terminaron con los drakkars vikingos eran tan grandes como las montañas suizas.

Pero ¿se hundió realmente aquel último drakkar? Para conocer la respuesta tendrás que revivir su experiencia en la Montaña Suiza del Parque de Atracciones del Monte Igueldo. ¿A qué estás esperando?

La Montaña Suiza es una joya escondida dentro de nuestra península. Abierta en 1928 en el parque de atracciones Monte Igueldo, se mantiene como la Montaña Rusa más antigua actualmente operativa en España. A diferencia de otras montañas rusas, ésta no tiene una estructura de soportación de madera o de acero, si no que los rieles están construidos sobre un camino de cemento. Su recorrido, de 400 metros, discurre a través de edificios y murallas, completando así un circuito de forma oval.

Requisitos del log

1.- Envíame por mail o mensaje privado la respuesta a esta pregunta: 

1A- Además de la soportación de la vía, hay otra cosa que hace esta montaña rusa muy diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver. ¿Cuál? Lo podrás comprobar una vez subido en la atracción.

1B- ¿Cuál de las bajadas de Mendiko Trena es la más alta?

2.- En tu log, deberás adjuntar (ver ejemplos debajo):

Una foto donde se te vea subido en la Montaña Suiza.

o bien

Una foto de un papel con tu nick u objeto tuyo que se vea que claramente has subido en la Montaña Suiza.

!!!! No se aceptarán fotos de la estación, sin que estés subido en el tren, o fotos con el tren de fondo !!!!

Se debe ver claramente que has subido. Si no, no tiene gracia...

Recuerda que está prohibido subir a Montaña Suiza con obejtos que se puedan caer, por lo que te recomiendo que tomes la foto cuando el tren esté parado en la estación, o que alguien te tome la fotografía en la estación o desde un mirador (He marcado uno en los waypoints).

     Cualquier log que incumpla alguno de los tres requisitos será borrado sin previo aviso.
