There’s a good chance that this attraction will remind you of Han Solo frozen in carbonite, but it is much weirder & cooler than that. It is located at Lower Falls Park along the Genesee River in Rochester, NY. Enjoy your walk on the Genesee Riverway Trail, you’ll have a couple opportunities to view the Lower Falls and perhaps feel the mist from the waterfall. The recommended parking is included on this cache page.
In order to claim the find for this geocache, either
- Find the four monoliths at GZ covered in hands and faces and look East, then message me with the name that someone spray painted on a rock that sits on the edge of a paved path.
- Post a picture in your log of yourself or you just showing a peace sign with the sculpture in the background.
The “Seat of Forgetting and Remembering” by Adriana Ippel Slutzky, includes four monoliths which represent the world. They were formed from concrete covered steel and use casts of the hands and faces of over 600 children and adults to celebrate Rochester, NY's diversity. The four monoliths represent the four directions: North, South, East and West. There's a bench in the center of the four monoliths. The artist completed the sculpture in 2001 and said she wanted the bench to be a place for people to sit and think and remember...or forget, depending on your frame of mind. As humans’ prime elements of communication, Slutzky chose these parts to celebrate the oneness in humanity. She hoped to encourage mutual appreciation and peace.
Congratulations to narserio for being FTF in only 5 hours after the Virtual was published!
