Maalumäen näköalatorni on osa EU-varoin toteutettua Karunan Unelma hanketta.
Näköalatorni nousi vanhan ilmavalvontatornin paikalle Maalunmäen korkeimmalle kalliolle. Karunalaiset lotat päivystivät tornissa talvisodan ja jatkosodan ajan. Tornista näkyi kauas merelle Paraisille sekä Nauvoon ja hyvällä säällä saattoi ihailla Turun tuomiokirkon tornia.
Nyt samaisella historiallisella paikalla sijaitsee näköalatorni, josta voi yhä ihailla paikkakunnan kauniita maalaismaisemia ja tunnistaa horisontista lähialueiden maamerkkejä.

The Maalumäki observation tower is part of the Karuna Unelma project implemented with EU funds. The observation tower was built on the highest rock of Maalunmäki in place of the old air control tower. The Lottas from Karuna were on duty in the tower during the Winter War and the Continuation War. From the tower you could see far to the sea to Parainen and Nauvo, and in good weather you could admire the tower of the Turku Cathedral. Now there is an observation tower on the same historical site, from which you can still admire the beautiful rural landscapes of the region and recognize the landmarks of the surrounding areas on the horizon.

Maalun ilmavalvontatorni
Talvi- ja jatkosodan sekä Välirauhan ajan Karunan Lotta Svärd-yhdistyksen jäsenet, Viljam Jätinvuoren johdolla, valvoivat ilmatilaa, antaen aina vihollisen pommikoneiden lähestyessä hälyksen Turkuun.
Lottia oli kerralla vartiossa neljä, joista kaksi tornissa (Välirauhan aikana yksi) ja kaksi lepäämässä Maalun pikkutuvan vartiotuvassa. Talvella tornivuoro kesti kaksi ja kesällä neljä tuntia. Koko vartio vaihtui vuorokausittain ja vuorot toistuivat 5-6 päivän välein.
29.1.1940 Sally Oksanen antoi hälytyksen, mutta Turussa ei hälytystä uskottu. Seurauksena oli, että ns. postitalon pommituksessa kuoli 39 ihmistä.

Maalu’s Air Control Tower
During the Winter and Continuation War and the interim peace, the members of Karuna's Lotta Svärd association, led by Viljam Jätinvuori, monitored the airspace, always giving an alarm when enemy bombers approached Turku.
There were four Lottas on guard at one time, two of them in the tower (During an interim peace, one) and two resting in the guard cabin of Maalu's small hut. The tower shift lasted two hours in winter and four hours in summer. The entire guard changed every day and the shifts repeated every 5-6 days.
On January 29, 1940, Sally Oksanen gave an alarm, but the alarm was not believed in Turku. The result was that 39 people died in the so-called “bombing of the post house”.
