Time Capsules are placed usually to mark significant events. They may contain information regarding circumstances that existed at the time of placement.
When I did some alterations to my house in the 1990's I took out a medicine cabinet that was within the walls of the bathroom. Before sealing the hole the family placed a few objects in there. A newspaper for the day. A price list of groceries and the children put in one of their soft toys. Maybe one day someone will find them and get some pleasure from doing that.
A friend also did similar in 2023. After taking out a gas heater in his fireplace he placed a few items in a ammo box and put it in the space. Who knows if and when it will be found.
The time capsule at posted coordinates was placed in 1990 by the then mayor of Hamilton Margaret Evans. I am trying to gather information about the placing of and what it may contain. It is scheduled to be uplifted in 2040.
I understand there may be at least two other offical Time Capsules in Hamilton.
One is supposed to be at the fountain in Boyes Park where Founders Theatre was. It was placed in 1978 but as yet I have not been able to locate any sign of it.
