Geocache Description:

My dad, Thomas "Gerald" Luis was drafted in 1955 for the Korean War.  He went to Camp Chaffee in Arkansas.  He then went to Fort Lewis in Washington state and in 1956 he was  at Fort Richardson in Alaska.  He would always say he was in the territory of Alaska.  He was there before it became a state in 1959.  He always wanted to go back there. He and my mom took a cruise to Alaska so dad could tell everyone he was there when it was a territory and a state.  He thought this was pretty cool and a special memory for him.

Veteran's War Memorial Park is a list of name of soldiers who served in the armed forces that are from Cedar Vale.  When they build the memorial they put my dad's name under the wrong war.  Later he was placed under the correct one, Korean War.

There is also a Memorial Gazebo that has name plates on it.  My dad is also on this gazebo.
