It's our Twelfth Anniversary of Geocaching and anyone who has found our other anniversary caches, would know that there was an 'M' theme with the first 3. After 3 years of other Letters, we returned to 'M'..then.back to 'P' or 2 'P's actually, then our hometown of N because Australia Day was on a Wedneday!! how inconvenient, then 'K' .and last year another double P! This year is the polar opposite to the type of cache that we would normally hide. So normally we go camping on Australia day somewhere around SA and place our Anniversary cache. This year however we have been enticed to the eastern states to Australia's 1st Block Party and the first Block Party outside of the US! As we had a Virtual reward up our sleeve, we thought this would be an ideal cache to place as we wouldn't need a maintenance plan. Our massive thanks to ziggiau for providing info for this location and also laighside legends for confirming coords and providing pics of the location for us as this will have to be submitted before we arrive for the Block Party because the virtual expires on the 17th Jan and has to be submitted prior to this.
So in our first year we found 643, In our second year we found 857. Our third year had us find 737, not a bad effort considering we didn't cache properly for about 6 months as we were renovating a house, in our fourth year we found 851. Our 5 year was a bit light on with only 461 found and our sixth year saw us do better with a find count of 685 with our seventh year find tally being 580. Year 8 was 407. Sadly there were no Mega Events so the shop remained in Nuri but we were extremley grateful for the support we received from the caching community. We did seriously miss catching up with all of our interstate friends though. 2021 was a marginal improvement on 2020 but covid still got in the way. We were all set to go to the Dayboro Mega in Qld (not with the shop, only as cachers!) but thery went into lockdown a few days before we were due to fly so we had to cancel those plans and instead packed up the caravan and went to Port Broughton to sulk.As it turned out the lockdown lifted before we were due to land, so we could have gone after all....We did attend the Millicent Mega in October with the shop, the Wangaratta Mega in January 2022 and Whittlesea in November. 2021 saw our lowest annual find count of just 352, but that must have spurned us on as 2022 was our best caching year EVER with a total find count of 912 caches! Sadly with renovations and work we slipped back to a rather feeble 382 in 2023.Our second worst year and this year only marginally better at 399! Work certainly does get in the way of Geocaching!...sigh.
1.To claim the cache, post a pic of yourself or your gps AT GZ WITH THE CAULDRON IN THE BACKGROUND.
2.From GZ walk towards the cauldron until you come across the plaques on the ground depicting athletes. Find your favourite anthlete and with your left foot at the left end of the plaque take a photo. Upload this along with the cauldron selfie. Note your LEFT foot must be in the plaque picture! Logs without this proof of attendence will most likely get deleted.
