Lars Eliel Sonck, born August 10, 1870 in Kälviä, died March 14, 1956 in Helsinki, was a Finnish-Swedish architect. He was one of the most renowned and productive Finnish architects. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1921 and was the first to be made an honorary member of the Finnish Architects' Association in 1930. Among Sonck's works can Kultaranta be mentioned. This is the summer residence for the President of Finland.

1. Jakobstad Water Tower (1930)
Jakobstad Water Tower is one of the seven water towers that Sonck designed. Only two of these seven were built but Jakobstad Water Tower is the only remaining that is in its original design. It is 60 metres high.

2. Tampere Cathedral (1907)
Tampere Cathedral, originally known as St. John's Church, is a Lutheran church in Tampere and the seat of the Diocese of Tampere. The building was designed in the National Romantic style by Lars Sonck, and built between 1902 and 1907.

3. Kallio Church (1912)
Kallio Church is a Lutheran church in the Kallio district of Helsinki, Finland. It was designed by Lars Sonck and represents National Romanticism with Art Nouveau influences. The National Romantic style appears in the use of traditional Finnish materials and in the church's massive, gray granite body, as well as in nature-inspired colours and decorative motifs. Completed in 1912, the church is one of Helsinki's most prominent landmarks. It is 65 metres high. Its excellent acoustics make it a popular venue for concerts, especially for organ music.

4. St Michael's Church (1905)
St Michael's Church is a church situated in central Turku. It is named after Archangel Michael and was finished in 1905. It dominates the western skyline of the city of Turku. It was designed by Professor Lars Sonck and is one of the most popular wedding churches in Turku, being able to seat 1,800 people. When Sonck won the competition for the church in 1894, he was only a 23-year-old architectural student. Michael's Church is older than Michael's parish. The parish only dates back to 1921.

5. Mariehamn Town Hall (1939)
Mariehamn Town Hall in Åland is one of the late works of architect Lars Sonck. The town hall completed in 1939 represents both Functionalism and Nordic Classicism, typical for Sonck’s later works.
