Viele Jahre verlief an dieser Stelle eine Grenze, die die Menschen auf beiden Seiten der Karawanken voneinander trennte. Doch zum Glück sind diese Zeiten der Trennung mittlerweile vorbei. Heute ist der Loiblpass ein Ort, an dem sich Wanderer von beiden Seiten der Grenze in Freundschaft begegnen. In der nahen und gemütlichen Berghütte, die den vielsagenden Namen „Haus der Begegnung“ trägt, kommen sich Slowenen und Österreicher bei leckeren Speisen und Getränken näher.
Und auch aus Geocaching-Sicht ist der Loiblpass ein Ort der grenzenlosen Begegnung geworden, denn seit 2016 organisiert der Besitzer dieses Virtuals jedes Jahr ein Treffen von slowenischen und österreichischen Geocachern, das mittlerweile schon zu einer Tradition geworden ist und im nächsten Jahr (2025) sein 10-jähriges Jubiläum feiert. Dieses jährliche Event trägt den Titel „Grenzenlos – Brez meja“.
Freundschaft kennt eben keine Grenzen und mit der Freundschaftsglocke, die seit August 2023 oben auf dem Alten Loibl direkt an der Grenze steht, soll auf die gute Nachbarschaft der beiden Länder hingewiesen werden.
Die vielsprachige Freundschaftsglocke aus Messing ist laut dem Künstler Herbert Guttenbrunner ein Symbol für die Verbundenheit und grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit und lädt Wanderer ein, diese Botschaft weit hörbar in die Länder auf beiden Seiten des Karawankenkamms zu senden.
Und auch du wirst die Freundschaftsglocke zum Läuten bringen müssen, wenn du diesen Virtual erfolgreich absolvieren willst!
Aufgaben, die du auf beiden Seiten der Grenze erledigen musst, wenn du diesen Virtual loggen möchtest:
1. Begib dich an den Wegpunkt „Bunker“ auf der slowenischen Seite und zähle die kleinen „Fenster“, die dieser Bunker hat. Diese Zahl ist A.
2. Gehe zu den Headerkoordinaten und finde ein Objekt am Wegesrand, auf dem Folgendes steht: 3 X von Klagenfurt. X (klein geschrieben!) ist das Wort, das du für die E-Mail brauchst.
3. a) Suche die Freundschaftsglocke oben auf dem Loiblpass (Wegpunkt „Glocke“) und zähle die kleinen Figuren, die sich oben auf der Messingglocke befinden. Diese Zahl ist Z. b) Schaut euch die Infotafeln unter der Glocke an und sucht folgende Information: Seit 19Y9 bilden die Karwanken die gebirgige Grenze zwischen Österreich und Slowenien. B = Z minus Y
4. Mach ein Foto von dir (dein Gesicht braucht darauf nicht zu sehen sein), wie du die Freundschaftsglocke läutest. Hänge dieses Foto an dein Log.
5. Schicke eine kurze E-Mail an folgende Adresse: ABX@gmail.com
Vergiss nicht, deinen Geocaching-Namen in der E-Mail anzugeben. Du kannst auch einfach nur deinen Namen in die Betreff-Zeile schreiben. Du erhältst dann eine Antwort mit der Logfreigabe.
Wenn du alles erledigt hast und du die automatische Anrtwort erhalten hast, kannst du sofort loggen.

Na tem mestu je dolga leta potekala meja, ki je ločevala ljudi na obeh straneh Karavank. Na srečo so ti časi ločitve zdaj mimo. Danes je gorski prelaz Ljubelj kraj, kjer se družijo pohodniki z obeh strani meje. V bližnji in prijetni planinski koči, ki nosi sogestivno ime „Hiša srečanja“, se Slovenci in Avstrijci spoznavamo ob okusni hrani in pijači.
In z vidika geocachinga je prelaz Ljubelj postal tudi prostor brezmejnih srečanj, saj lastnik tega virtualnega zaklada že od leta 2016 organizira letno srečanje slovenskih in avstrijskih geocacherjev, ki je postalo tradicionalno in bo praznovalo 10. obletnico naslednje leto (2025). Dogodek se imenuje “Grenzenlos – Brez meja”.
Prijateljstvo ne pozna meja in Zvon prijateljstva, ki je bil avgusta 2023 postavljen na vrh starega Ljubelja tik ob meji, je namenjen opozarjanju na dobre sosedske odnose med državama.
Večjezični Zvon prijateljstva je po besedah umetnika Herberta Guttenbrunnerja simbol solidarnosti in čezmejnega sodelovanja ter vabi pohodnike, da to sporočilo zvočno pošljejo državam na obeh straneh Karavank.
In tudi vi boste morali pozvoniti na zvon, če želite uspešno dokončati ta virtualni zaklad!
Naloge, ki jih morate opraviti na obeh straneh meje:
1. Pojdite na točko »Bunker« na slovenski strani in preštejte majhna ‘okenca’, ki jih ima ta bunker. Ta številka je A.
2. Pojdite na header koordinate in poiščite objekt ob strani poti, na katerem piše: 3 X von Klagenfurt. X (napisano z malimi črkami!) je beseda, ki jo potrebujete za e-pošto.
3. a) Poiščite Zvon prijateljstva na vrhu prelaza Ljubelja (točka »Glocke«) in preštejte majhne figure na vrhu zvona. Ta številka je Z. b) Oglejte si informacijske table pod zvoncem: Od leta 19Y9 so Karawanke naravna meja med Avstrijo in Slovenijo. B = Z minus Y
4. Fotografirajte se med zvonjenjem. Ni nujno, da je na fotografiji viden vaš obraz. Dodajte to fotografijo svojemu besedilo v (spletnem) dnevniku.
5. Pošljite kratko e-pošto na naslov: ABX@gmail.com
V e-pošto ne pozabite vključiti svojega geocaching imena. Lahko tudi samo napišete ime kot zadevo. Nato boste prejeli odgovor z dovoljenjem za logiranje.
Ko je vse narejeno in ste prejeli samodejni odgovor, lahko takoj logirate.

Handshake of Austrian and Slovene geocachers at the border during one of my annual events.

For many years, a border ran along this spot, separating people on both sides of the Karawanken mountains. Fortunately, those times of separation are now over. Today, the Old Loibl Pass is a place where hikers from both sides of the border meet in friendship. In the nearby and cosy mountain hut, which bears the evocative name “Haus der Begegnung” (House of Encounter), Slovenians and Austrians get to know each other over delicious food and drinks.
And from a geocaching perspective, the Loibl Pass has also become a place of borderless encounters, as the owner of this virtual has been organising an annual meeting of Slovenian and Austrian geocachers since 2016, which has now become a tradition and will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year (2025). This annual event is called “Grenzenlos (Borderless) - Brez meja”.
Friendship knows no borders and the Friendship Bell, which was placed at the top of the Old Loibl Pass right on the border in August 2023, is intended to draw attention to the good neighbourly relations between the two countries.
According to artist Herbert Guttenbrunner, the multilingual Friendship Bell made of brass is a symbol of solidarity and cross-border cooperation and invites hikers to send this message audibly to the countries on both sides of the Karawanken ridge.
And you too will have to ring the Friendship Bell if you want to complete this virtual successfully.
Tasks that you must complete on both sides of the border if you want to log this virtual:
1. Go to the waypoint “Bunker” on the Slovenian side and count the small ‘windows’ that this bunker has. This number is A.
2. Go to the header coordinates and find an object at the side of the road with the following written on it: 3 X von Klagenfurt. X (written in lower case!) is the word you need for the e-mail.
3. a) Find the Friendship Bell at the top of the Loibl Pass (waypoint “Glocke”) and count the little figures on top of the bell. 4. Take a photo of yourself (your face does not need to be on it) ringing the friendship bell. Attach this photo to your log.

Don't forget to include your geocaching name in the e-mail. You can also just write your name in the subject line. You will then receive a reply with the logging permission.
Once you have done everything and you have received the automatic reply, you can log immediately.
