Have you ever visited the Sher Brook stepping stones over Cannock Chase? These stones were placed here way back in 1956, after being purchased by the Friends of Cannock Chase. They were originally part of the Stafford jail gate house that was demolished in 1952.
Originally called ‘The Hangman’s Stones’ in the local paper because the roof of the gate house was used as a place of execution until 1817, it is now a beautiful spot enjoyed by dog walkers, hikers, cyclists and explorers of all ages.
There are many walks nearby that lead here, and if walking down from the car parks at Brocton Coppice you are almost certain to see roaming deer.
To claim this virtual reward, simply take a photo of the stones while visiting.
