Le cascate del Mulino di Saturnia: Si tratta di un luogo che si è creato naturalmente, grazie all’azione di una cascata di acque solfuree termali e generata dal torrente termale del Gorello.
Recentemente sono state citate nella classifica stilata da HuffingtonPost sui siti turistici più importanti d’Italia e sono state inserite nell’elenco delle destinazioni da vedere almeno una volta nella vita dal New York Times e dal The Guardian. Lonely Planet le ha considerate fra le dieci migliori sorgenti termali benefiche in Europa.
Le cascate del gorello sono originate dalle acque solfuree delle Terme di Saturnia, dove l’acqua sgorga da una sorgente naturale ad una temperatura di 37°C e grazie alla presenza di un particolare elemento, ovvero il Plancton Termale, si caratterizza per gli effetti benefici che ha sulla pelle, e sugli apparati digestivo, circolatorio, motorio e del ricambio.
La sorgente termale di Saturnia origina un torrente termale, chiamato gorello, che alimenta le cascate.
Le cascatelle (così chiamate dai locali) viste da lontano sembrano il disegno di una cartolina.
Le cascate sono un luogo naturale e libero, quindi sono aperte 24 ore al giorno, tutti i giorni, anche in inverno e l’ingresso è gratuito. Presso le cascate del mulino si trovano un bar ed un parcheggio, sempre aperti.
Le cascate del Mulino di Saturnia si trovano lungo la strada provinciale SP10, che unisce Montemerano e Saturnia. Le cascate distano poche centinaia di metri e trovarle è molto semplice, basta seguire i cartelli presenti lungo la strada. Provenendo da Montemerano è possibile fare una sosta nel punto panoramico lungo la provinciale, da cui si può ammirare tutta la vallata di Saturnia.

Scattati una foto in acqua. Non importa se sei in piedi, sdraiato o mentre nuoti. La foto deve mostrare chiaramente che sei in acqua.

The Cascate di Saturnia Waterfalls are a place that has naturally been created, thanks to the cascades of thermal sulphurous waters and generated by the Gorello waterfall.
Recently they were mentioned in the ranking compiled by HuffingtonPost on the most important tourist sites in Italy and have been included in the list of destinations to see at least once in your lifetime by the New York Times and The Guardian. Lonely Planet has considered them among the ten best thermal springs in Europe.
The waterfalls of the Gorello originate from the sulphurous waters of the Terme di Saturnia, where the water gushes from a natural source at a temperature of 37°C, and thanks to the presence of Thermal Plankton, characterized by the beneficial effects it has on the skin, and on the digestive, circulatory and motor systems.
The cascatelle (as the locals call them) seen from afar look like a postcard.
The waterfalls are a natural and free place, so they are open 24 hours a day, every day, even in winter and entry is free. There is a bar and a parking lot, which are also always open.
The Saturnia hot springs are located along the SP10 provincial road, which connects Montemerano and Saturnia. The waterfalls and Terme di Saturnia are just a few hundred metres apart and it is very easy to find them, just follow the signs along the road. Coming from Montemerano you can stop at the viewing point along the provincial road, from which you can admire the entire Saturnia valley.
Requirements to log the cache:
Take a photo of yourself in the water. It doesn't matter if you're standing, lying down or swimming. The photo must clearly show that you're in the water.
