Banjat e Bënjës

The thermal springs of Bënja are a rare natural phenomenon with very high curative effects. They are located 14 km from the city of Përmet, in the municipality of Petran.
In this place there are four thermal springs that treat rheumatism problems and two others, one for all skin problems and another for stomach health. So, there are six springs in total, two of them have a larger area, located at the foot of the Kati Bridge, while the other springs are like small stone tubs.
The waters have been studied from an analytic – scientific point of view and from the chemical content, where they turn out to be waters like sulfate sources, with a high content of sodium bicarbonate. According to researchers, these springs are special, not only are they hot waters, but they contain dissolved mineral substances with great therapeutic properties.
The water temperature of these open natural spring ranges from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Termální prameny v Bënje (alb. Banjat e Bënjës nebo také Llixhat e Bënjës) patří k nejkrásnějším místům v celé Albánii. Hned za ústím impozantního kaňonu řeky Legarica tu do několika umělých jezírek vyvěrá voda o teplotě 26 - 32° C. Přímo nad bazény se navíc klene turecký most (alb. Ura e Kadiut, v překladu Soudcův most), který nechal v roce 1760 postavit Ali paša Tepelenský.
Do 90. let tu fungovala základní lázeňská infrastruktura. Nyní už jsou zde pouze místními lidmi vytvořené bazény pod širým nebem, z nichž každý údajně léčí jiný typ onemocnění (revmatismus, kožní a dýchací onemocnění atd.). V jednom z nich je i léčivé bahno. Dbejte ale na to, že v sirnaté vodě plné minerálů byste ze zdravotních důvodů neměli strávit více než několik málo desítek minut. Vstup do bazénů je bezplatný.
V letních měsících zde bývá rušněji a nejbližší bazénky mohou být přeplněné. Další nádrže s vodou jsou naštěstí „schované“ o několik desítek metrů dál proti proudu Lengarice, kde již začíná kaňon, jehož prohlídku byste také neměli opomenout.
