Der Dambulla-Höhlentempel
(singhalesisch: දඹුල්ල ලෙන් විහාරය), auch als
Goldener Tempel von Dambulla
bekannt, befindet sich in der Zentralregion von Sri Lanka.
Er gehört zum
UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe
und ist einer der am besten erhaltenen Orte für Höhlenkunst weltweit.
Dieser Höhlentempelkomplex ist der größte seiner Art in Sri Lanka. In der
Region gibt es mehr als 80 Höhlen. Der Höhlenkomplex liegt etwa 160 Meter
über dem umliegenden Gelände in einem gewaltigen Felsmassiv, das die gesamte
Landschaft dominiert.
Der Tempel besteht hauptsächlich aus fünf separaten Höhlen. Die Darstellungen
in den Höhlen erzählen Geschichten aus dem Leben Buddhas und vermitteln die
ethischen Grundsätze des Buddhismus.

The Dambulla Cave Temple
(Sinhala: දඹුල්ල ලෙන් විහාරය), also known as the
Golden Temple of Dambulla,
is located in the central region of Sri Lanka.
It is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site
and one of the best-preserved cave-art sites in the world.
This cave temple complex is the largest of its kind in Sri Lanka. There are
more than 80 caves in the region. The cave complex is located approximately
160 metres above the surrounding terrain within a huge rock formation that
dominates the entire landscape.
The temple mainly consists of five separate caves. The artwork within the
caves tells stories from the life of Buddha and illustrates the ethical
principles of Buddhism.
Log requirement:
To log this cache, please add a photograph to your log that clearly proves
you visited the location. See example 1 or example 2.
Please respect the religious and cultural rules:
Do not take photographs in which you are facing away from Buddha.

Logs without a photograph clearly showing that you visited the location
will be deleted without further notice. At least one suitable photograph
is required for each log.
