Haikara - Virtual Reward 4.0

Eino Rautaruoho teki suuren määrän omaperästä veistostaidetta. Häntä voidaan pitää ns. ITE-taiteen edelläkävijänä Jämsän seudulla. Kun kansantaitelija Eino Rautaruoho valmisti aikoinaan Haikara-teoksen Koskenpään kunnantalon pihalle (1967), hän esitti toiveen: Linnun nokkaan pitäisi ripustaa nyytti aina silloin, kun kylälle syntyy uusi vauva. Rautaruoho teki veistoksia pääasiassa romuraudasta, ja lisäksi hän maalasi, runoili, sävelsi ja oli myös kansanpelimanni, hänen instrumentteinaan olivat viulu ja saha.

Eino Rautaruoho made a large amount of original sculptural art. He can be considered as a pioneer of ITE art in the Jämsä region. ITE art is a finnish contemporary folk art. The acronym ITE comes from the Finnish ‘itse tehty elämä’, i.e. ‘self-made life’. When Rautaruoho once made the Haikara work in the courtyard of the Koskenpää municipal hall (1967), he made a wish: A bun should be hung on the bird's beak every time a new baby is born in the village. Rautaruoho made sculptures mainly from scrap iron, and in addition he painted, wrote poems, composed and was also a folk musician, his instruments were violin and saw.
