Zgodba o bronastem modelu mesta
Bronasti model Ljubljane, ki krasi Prešernov trg, je bil postavljen 9. januarja 1991. Maketo je zasnoval Ljubljanski urbanistični zavod in jo ob 30. obletnici svojega delovanja podaril Ljubljančanom. Predstavlja staro mestno jedro Ljubljane z vsemi pomembnimi stavbami, ulicami, trgi in značilnostmi, kot so Ljubljanski grad, Tromostovje in katedrala sv. Nikolaja.
Maketo so sprva izdelali iz lesa. Nato je šla na posebno pot: moj oče, ki je bil zaposlen v zavodu, jo je z lastnim tovornim vozilom prepeljal čez državno mejo v Italijo, kjer so jo ulili v bron. Bronasta maketa se je nato še enkrat »ilegalno« vrnila čez mejo nazaj v Slovenijo – simbolno potovanje, ki je dodalo posebno poglavje v njeno zgodovino.
Sprva je bila postavitev na Prešernovem trgu mišljena kot začasna rešitev za en mesec, med katerim naj bi se odločili o njeni stalni lokaciji. Med možnimi alternativami sta bila omenjena tudi Mestni trg in park Zvezda. Vendar je maketa med Ljubljančani in obiskovalci mesta naletela na izjemno pozitiven odziv, kar je pripomoglo k odločitvi, da ostane na mestu, kjer stoji še danes.
Že več kot tri desetletja lahko na Prešernovem trgu občudujemo prestolnico v njenem bronastem sijaju – pogled z vrha, ki je tako nadvse domač in obenem čarobno nov.
The story of the bronze model of the city
The bronze model of Ljubljana, which adorns Prešeren Square, was erected on January 9, 1991. The model was designed by the Ljubljana Urban Planning Institute - LUZ and donated to the people of Ljubljana on the 30th anniversary of its operation. It represents the old city center of Ljubljana with all the important buildings, streets, squares and features such as Ljubljana Castle, Tromostovje and St. Nicholas.
The model was initially made of wood. Then it went on a special journey: my father, who was employed at the institute, transportedit across the border in his own truck to Italy, where it was cast in bronze. The bronze model then returned once again "illegally" across the border back to Slovenia - a symbolic journey that added a special chapter to its history.
At first, the installation on Prešeren square was intended as a temporary solution for one month, during which a decision on its permanent location was to be made. Mestni trg and Zvezda park were also mentioned among the possible alternatives. However, the model met with an extremely positive response among the residents of Ljubljana and visitors to the city, which contributed to the decision to remain in the place where it still stands today.
For more than three decades, on Prešeren square, we have been able to admire the capital in its bronze splendor - a view from the top that is both extremely homely and magically new at the same time.
