FR : Centre géographique de la Wallonie.
Presque à la limite avec la commune de Ciney (hameau de Senenne), sur les hauteurs de Spontin, se trouve le Centre géographique de la Wallonie, le point central de ce "centroïde" ayant été déterminé par l'Institut Géographique National (IGN) en 2002 dans le cadre d'une émission de la RTBF. L'inauguration officielle a eu lieu le 25 mai 2013.
Ce centre est matérialisé sur place par une imposante table d'orientation en petit granit du pays, irriguée par les principaux cours d'eau, consacrés à la Wallonie et à ses cinq provinces. Celles-ci sont rappelées d'une partie par une succession de drapeaux le long du parcours (à partir de la zone de stationnement) et d'autre part par des panneaux bilingues évoquant le chef-lieu de chacune d'entre elles.
Un petit personnage, un nûton typique de la région appelée Boutroûle, habite ce lieu, en prétendant que c'est son nom qui est à l'origine de ce centre géographique.
A peine 1 an après l'inauguration, notre cher Boutroûle avait disparu en 2014. Après 7 ans d'errements... il est réapparu à Spontin, retrouvé grâce à la police. Remis en place en juin 2023, il a de nouveau été volé une semaine plus tard. Cette fois, il n'aura pas fallu attendre longtemps pour retrouver le voleur, mais Boutroûle avait les pieds sciés. En attendant, la réparation, il faudra prendre son mal en patience avant de le revoir.
La signification de Boutroûle en wallon : c'est le Nombril.

Photos de Boutroüle et de la carte au début
NL : Geografisch centrum van Wallonië.
Bijna op de grens met de gemeente Ciney (gehucht Senenne), op de hoogten van Spontin, ligt het Geografisch Centrum van Wallonië, waarvan het centrale punt in 2002 door het Nationaal Geografisch Instituut (IGN) werd bepaald in het kader van een RTBF-uitzending. De officiële inhuldiging vond plaats op 25 mei 2013.
Dit centrum wordt ter plaatse gemarkeerd door een imposante oriëntatietafel van klein plaatselijk graniet, geïrrigeerd door de belangrijkste rivieren, gewijd aan Wallonië en zijn vijf provincies. Deze worden enerzijds in herinnering gebracht door een opeenvolging van vlaggen langs de route (beginnend vanaf de parkeerplaats) en anderzijds door tweetalige borden die de hoofdstad van elk van hen oproepen.
Een klein personage, een nûton die typisch is voor de regio genaamd Boutroûle, woont op deze plaats en beweert dat het zijn naam is die aan de oorsprong ligt van dit geografische centrum.
Amper 1 jaar na de inhuldiging verdween onze dierbare Boutroûle in 2014. Na 7 jaar omzwervingen... dook hij opnieuw op in Spontin, gevonden dankzij de politie. Teruggeplaatst in juni 2023, een week later werd hij opnieuw gestolen. Deze keer hoefden we niet lang te wachten om de dief te vinden, maar de voeten van Boutroûle werden afgezaagd. In afwachting van reparaties moet U nog even geduld hebben voordat U hem weer ziet.
Boutroûle betekent in het Waals de Navel.

Almost at the limit with the commune of Ciney (hamlet of Senenne), on the heights of Spontin, is the Geographic Center of Wallonia, the central point of this "centroid" having been determined by the National Geographic Institute (IGN) in 2002 as part of an RTBF broadcast. The official inauguration took place on May 25, 2013.
