Die Erstbesteigung des Gross Titlis fand bereits im Jahre 1744 durch Klosterleute aus Engelberg statt. Damals gab es noch keine Bahnen ab Engelberg. Heute ist der Klein Titlis mit einer Drehgondel (sprich: «Tumbler») erschlossen und ein weltberühmter Touristenmagnet. Die überwiegend asiatischen Touristen bleiben meist bei der Bergstation auf dem Klein Titlis und freuen sich darüber, dass sie Schnee anfassen können.
Der Gross Titlis ist ein beliebtes Tourenziel. Sei es ab Engelberg (ca. 7,5h), ab Trüebsee, Titlis Stand oder ab der Bahnstation Klein Titlis (ca. 1h) … so oder so ist es ein tolles Gefühl, auf dem höchsten Punkt im Kanton Obwalden zu stehen. Über den Gipfel verläuft die Kantonsgrenze Obwalden/Bern.
Je nach Routenwahl ist entsprechende Ausrüstung gefragt. (Oft liegt Schnee auf der Route. Auch in den frühen Sommermonaten.) Wer vom Titlis Stand her kommt, muss den Gletscher queren.
Ich selbst bin den Aufstieg mit der Familie (2 Jugendliche) ab Klein Titlis gegangen.
Im Spätsommer ist der Grat oft aper und ohne Schneeausrüstung gut begehbar. Trittsicherheit und gutes Schuhwerk (keine Turnschuhe oder Sandalen) gehören aber in diesem Gelände auch auf dieser kurzen Route dazu. Auf den letzten Metern ist zur Unterstützung ein Stahlseil montiert.
Auf dem Gipfel braucht es dann ein anständiges «Znüni» 😉 und genügend Zeit für die tolle Rundumsicht.
Jede(r) ist für seine Routenwahl und die entsprechende Ausrüstung selbst verantwortlich!
Aufgabe zum Virtual:
Da der Besuch dieses Virtuals mit etwas Aufwand verbunden ist, gibt es vor Ort keine komplizierte Aufgabe. Du musst lediglich nachweisen, dass du am Nullpunkt warst. Um diesen Virtual zu loggen, hast du darum folgende Aufgabe zu erledigen, welche belegen sollen, dass du ganz oben gestanden bist:
Wandere auf den Gross Titlis und mache an den Listingkoordinaten ein Foto mit dem Schild «Engelberg», welches auf einem «Steinmandli» steht. Auf dem Foto muss dieses Schild, dein Cachername, Datum und ein Körperteil (Hand, Fuss, Kopf) sichtbar sein. Jede Person die den Virtual loggen will, macht ein eigenes Bild. (Fotomontagen oder Fotos aus der Ferne werden nicht akzeptiert.) Lade das Foto zu deinem Logeintrag hoch.
Beispiel:
Hinweis Winter: Sollte der Wegweiser im Winter zugeschneit sein, darfst du alternativ auch das Vermessungsdreieck als Sujet auf das Foto nehmen. Es muss erkennbar sein, dass du auf dem Gross Titlis stehst.
Wenn du zusätzlich ein Selfie für dein «Insta-Influencer-Profil» machen willst – nur keine Hemmungen – wirf dich in Pose! 😉 Ist aber keine Bedingung.

I went up the climb with my family (2 teenagers) from Klein Titlis.
In late summer the ridge is often clear and easy to walk on without snow equipment. Sure-footedness and good footwear (no sneakers or sandals) are essential in this terrain, even on this short route. A steel cable is installed for support on the last few meters.
At the summit you need a decent “breakfast” 😉 and enough time for the great all-round view.
Everyone is responsible for their own route choice and the appropriate equipment!

Hike to the Gross Titlis and take a photo at the listing coordinates with the sign “Engelberg”, which is on a “Steinmandli”. This sign, your cacher name, date and a body part (hand, foot, head) must be visible in the photo. Each person who wants to log the virtual takes their own picture. (Photomontages or photos from a distance are not accepted.) Upload the photo to your log entry.

Note winter: If the signpost is covered in snow in winter, you can alternatively use the survey triangle as a subject in the photo. It must be clear that you are standing on the Gross Titlis.
