Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO MISSION BAY

What ever the season, this can be a very popular place to visit.

When the sun is shining, in the shade of the Pōhutukawa trees, many blankets and chairs can be found, claiming a spot for family and friends to gather.

So why come here? well to log this cache, it's the only reason really.

Yeah nah, it is so much more.

It has beautiful views, it is a taster of the Kiwi experience: water, sand, sunscreen, sunglasses, jandals, ice-cream and pizza.

This is Selwyn Reserve, great for picnics, did you bring one? no worries if not, as just across the road there are many cafes, restaurants and bars.

Mission Bay is one of the closest inner city beaches, with a large grassed area and Promenade.

So bring a frisbee, a ball, or visit the Children's Playground and Fitness Park (see WAYPOINTS).

TREVOR MOSS DAVIS MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN

Built:1947   Architect: George Tole   Sculptor: Richard Gross

Constructed of Sicilian marble, decorated with turquoise-coloured tiles and three bronze sea monsters gushing water.

Created as a memorial to Trevor Moss Davis, a gift by his father Eliot Davis.

At night the Fountain transforms with a changing colourful light display.

LOGGING REQUIREMENTS:

To claim a find for this Virtual cache there are 2 parts:

PART A: Take a photo standing with the Fountain behind you or part of you as proof you were here. If camera shy use something with your geocaching name on it, or position a personal item into the photo. Please include this image with your found it log.

PART B: At the published co-ordinates is a stand (octagonal shape) with a handprint outline marked on the top.

Match your hand and fingers to the handprint exactly, a recorded history of the area and the Fountain will now start playing.

Listen closely:
WHAT ARE THE LAST 5 WORDS
(the history of the Fountain is the last story).

You may have to listen to it again if you missed the end point, or record the message on your phone.

Send the answer (five words) to rustynz via the message centre or as an email through your geocaching.com profile page (Please do not post this answer in your found it log).

Once you have sent me the above answer (PART B), log the find, and include the photo (PART A).

Those caching in a group, each cacher needs to send their own message/email with the answer (PART B) and attach their own photo (PART A) to the "found it" log.

Here is a link to the what you are looking for at the published co-ordinates

RECORDED MESSAGE NOT WORKING

Alternate PART B if unable to hear the five words:

Visit two additional locations (see WAYPOINTS for locations and questions)

Find the answers and send to me via the message centre or as an email

BOTH OF THESE REQUIREMENTS NEED TO BE MET, IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DO THIS

ANY FOUND IT LOGS CAN / WILL BE DELETED
