Reynisfjall is a mountain directly on the world-famous black coast of Vík í Mýrdal. Due to its proximity to the rock pinnacles of Reynisdrangar, it is a popular viewpoint for photographers and a meeting point for ornithologists, who study the behaviour of various animals from the petrel family from there.
Legend says that the stacks of Reynisdrangar originated when two trolls dragged a three-masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock.
You must walk up Reynisfjall and it is about 3 km from the parking spot to the cache. From up there, you have a beautiful look to Dyrhólaey in the west, to Vík in the east and to Reynisdrangar in the south. But please be careful and do not go too close to the cliffs!
Requirements to log this cache:
1. Upload a picture of yourself, your GPSr or a personal item. The photo must include EITHER Reynisdrangar OR Dyrhólaey in the background (please see example photo below).
2. It must be clear from the picture that it was taken from the TOP of Reynisfjall and NOT from the beach or any other place.
3. Logs not meeting these requirements will be deleted without warning.
