La magia del teatro dei Burattini del Gianicolo,che si sa di antica memoria,deve la sua nascita a Carlo Piantadosi,un napoletano trapiantato a Roma dal 1947 e scomparso nel 2012.
Ha iniziato il mestiere per fame,come ricorda in un'intervista,in un paese fuoriuscito dalla rovina della guerra.Conosceva soltanto il suo dialetto e non parlava l'italiano ma stava cercando un lavoro.Ha cominciato a lavorare con quello che sarebbe diventato il suo maestro, Francesco Cardoni, portando in giro in burattini per le strade di Roma.
Dopo un apprendistato durato dieci anni,Carlo Piantadosi si è emancipato dal suo mentore e nel 1959 si è definitivamente installato sul Gianicolo,il colle degli eroi del Risorgimento.
Ora la sua attività continua grazie ai sui famigliari e, come un tempo, le mani del burattino animano i personaggi di quel piccolo teatro.Pulcinella la sua fidanzata Gabriella,il Carabiniere, la Morte, il Diavolo sono i personaggi principali che fanno divertire il loro pubblico.

The magic of the Janiculum Puppet theatre, which is known to have ancient history, owes its birth to Carlo Piantadosi, a Neapolitan who moved to Rome in 1947 and passed away in 2012.
He began his profession out of hunger, as he recalls in an interview, in a country that had emerged from the ruins of war. He only knew his dialect and did not speak Italian but was looking for a job. He began working with what would become the his teacher, Francesco Cardoni, carrying puppets around the streets of Rome.
After an apprenticeship that lasted ten years, Carlo Piantadosi emancipated himself from his mentor and in 1959 he definitively settled on the Janiculum, the hill of the heroes of the Risorgimento.
Now his activity continues thanks to his family and, as in the past, the puppet's hands animate the characters of that small theater. Pulcinella, his girlfriend Gabriella, the Carabiniere, Death, the Devil are the main characters who entertain the their audience.
