Véritable « signature » de la ville, l’estacade est sans doute le lieu le plus connu de Saint Jean de Monts. Ce ponton en bois de 400 mètres au-dessus de l’eau a vu le jour dans les années 1963-1964, grâce au travail d’Alexandre Voisin, entrepreneur à Coex. Au départ destiné à l’accostage des bateaux pour l’Ile d’Yeu, il deviendra très vite le lieu de flânerie privilégié des habitants et des vacanciers. L’Estacade est aussi très prisée par les pêcheurs à la ligne ou au « carrelet ». Elle est un spot immanquable, quelle que soit la saison ou la météo, car elle vous donne la formidable sensation de marcher sur l’eau pour atteindre l’horizon.
