Geocache Description:

Welcome to Mercy Park.

Mercy Park is a 16-acre park in Joplin, Missouri built on land donated by Mercy Hospital. It was created as a result of the recovery efforts following the May 2011 Tornado on what was the hospital's original site.  The area is known as "ground zero" for the tornado touchdown and heaviest of storm damage

At the posted coordinates you will find a large bronze statue of two hands holding a cross. The statue was created by sculptor Bill Snow and was donated to Mercy Hospital in 1996 to mark the hospital's centennial.

After the hospital was destroyed in the 2011 tornado, the statue was salvaged from the wreckage and put back in its original place after Mercy park was established.

To Claim this Virtual Geocache as FOUND - Please post a photo of yourself or part of yourself with the Statue. Your geocaching name on a piece of paper will do also. Logs without a photograph attached may be deleted. For bonus bragging points you can tell me the name of the Statue.
