At GZ you will find Seefin Passage Tomb. In Irish, Seefin directly translates to Suí Finn, the Seat of Fionn. Fionn MacCumhaill is a mythological hero from the Fianna Cycle in Irish Mythology (well worth looking them up - they are fascinating). Seefin overlooks the Glenasmole Valley where the Fianna were known to hunt.
Seefin Passage Tomb is an empty passage grave and National Monument which is more than 5,000 years old, during Ireland's Neolithic era. The tomb is a stone cairn decorated with mysterious carvings, 24m in diameter, 3m high and a 7m long passageway, which opens into a chamber with multiple compartments. Strangely, no actual human remains were found inside the tomb when it was excavated in 1931. People speculate that this either means no one was ever buried there at all or that any potential remains were removed and reburied elsewhere. It has been widely suggested in folklore tales that it was an entryway to the other world.
Be warned, this is a significant hike and as with all higher terrain caches, requires appopriate hiking attire, sustenance and planning. The pathway to GZ runs along the edge of the Kilbride Military Camp but there is no requirement to cross the firing range danger zone, which is marked by red flags on days it’s active. Scheduled firing days are published by the Defence Forces and available online. In summary: be prepared and be careful.

In order to log this cache, you must attach a photo of yourself to your log taken at the entrance to the passage tomb displaying your geocaching name (no need to show your face).
