Wanaka is my favourite place in NZ and 'The Wanaka Tree' has become a famous destination for travelers from all over the world, so when I was given the opportunity of a virtual geocache I thought the tree really deserved recognition. Unfortunately it's popularity dose mean a lot of visitors are on the beach a lot of the time.
Over the years I have photographed it many times and I thought it would be a great record of the tree if every geocacher logged a photo what ever the weather, season or time.
Unfortunately a few years ago the tree was vandalised which was very sad, but it is still there standing proud sometimes on dry land and other times in deep water or just a few inches you will have to come and see for yourself.
