Geocache Description:

THE GREAT SERPENT MOUND

The GREAT SERPENT MOUND is a 1,348 foot long ( 411 m ) three-foot-high prehistoric effigy mound.  It sits on a plateau, a half mile in, on the western edge of a meteorite crater and runs along Ohio Bush Creek in Adams County,  Ohio.  Radiocarbon analysis estimate the construction is approximately 321 BCE. The Serpent winds back and forth with its seven coils, ending in a triple coiled tail --- the opened mouth which is on a miles deep fault line has a 120 foot oval feature that depicts an Egg,  Sun or Turtle.  The Serpent was connected to the natural cycles of birth and death according to many ancient cultures.
