Kasteel
Het dorp Rijsenburg is genoemd naar kasteel Rijsenburg, dat twee kilometer ten zuidoosten van het huidige dorp stond, aan de overkant van de Langbroekerwetering. Een woontoren (donjon) uit de 13e eeuw was in 1536 uitgegroeid tot een burcht. Rijsenburg werd toen erkend als ridderhofstad. In 1635 kwam er een poortgebouw bij, dat je nu nog steeds kunt zien (WP1). De rest van het kasteel is in 1800 afgebroken.

Dorp
Tien jaar nadat het kasteel was afgebroken, in 1810, werd het dorp Rijsenburg dat gebouwd. De Sint-Petrus'-Bandenkerk en het halfronde kerkplein met woon- en koetshuizen werden gebouwd in opdracht van zakenman Petrus Judocus van Oosthuyse. Het plein is in 1967 tot beschermd dorpsgezicht verklaard.
Bijzonder naambord
In een van de huizen zat vanaf 1911 jarenlang het schildersbedrijf van AJM (Anton) Bak. Dit huis zie je bij WP2. De schilder woont er niet meer, maar het bijzondere naambord hangt nog steeds op de gevel.
Vanuit het zuidoosten zie je DECORATIESCHILDER, vanuit het noordwesten zie je RIJTUIGSCHILDER en als je recht tegenover het huis staat, zie je HUISSCHUILDER AJM BAK.
Utrechtse Heuvelrug
Rijsenburg en Driebergen werden in 1931 samengevoegd. Vervolgens is in 2006 de gemeente Driebergen-Rijsenburg met zes andere gemeenten samengevoegd tot de gemeente Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
De cache
Om deze virtual te kunnen loggen, hoef je alleen maar TWEE FOTO'S te maken en bij je log te plaatsen.
Voor beide locaties geldt: betreed geen privéterrein, parkeer niet langs de doorgaande weg, zie parkeersuggesties.
1) Maak op WP1 een foto van jezelf of van je gebruikersnaam met op de achtergrond het poortgebouw. (Zie voorbeeld.)
2) Maak in de buurt van WP2 een foto van jezelf of van je gebruikersnaam met op de achtergrond het naambord met de tekst DECORATIESCHILDER of HUISSCHUILDER AJM BAK of RIJTUIGSCHILDER. (Zie voorbeeld.)
3) Plaats de twee foto's bij je log. Logs zonder de twee foto's worden zonder verder overleg verwijderd.

Castle
The village of Rijsenburg is named after Rijsenburg Castle, which stood two kilometers southeast of the current village, on the other side of the Langbroekerwetering. A residential tower from the 13th century had grown into a castle in 1536. In 1635 a gatehouse was added, which you can still see today (WP1). The rest of the castle was demolished in 1800.

Village
Ten years after the castle was demolished, in 1810, the village of Rijsenburg was built. The church (Sint-Petrus'-Bandenkerk) and the semi-circular square with residential and coach houses were built on behalf of businessman Petrus Judocus van Oosthuyse. In 1967 the square was declared a protected townscape.
Special nameplate
From 1911, one of the houses housed AJM (Anton) Bak's painting company for many years. You can see this house at WP2. The painter no longer lives there, but the special nameplate still hangs on the facade.
From the southeast you see DECORATION PAINTER, from the northwest you see CARRIAGE PAINTER and if you stand opposite the house you see HOUSE PAINTER AJM BAK.
Utrechtse Heuvelrug
Rijsenburg and Driebergen were merged in 1931. Subsequently, in 2006, the municipality of Driebergen-Rijsenburg was merged with six other villages to form the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
The cache
To log this virtual, all you have to do is take TWO PHOTOS and post them with your log.
The following applies to both locations: do not enter private property, do not park along the main road, see parking suggestions.
1) Take a photo of yourself or your username on WP1 with the gatehouse in the background. (See example.)
2) Take a photo of yourself or your username near WP2 with the nameplate in the background saying DECORATIESCHILDER or HUISSCHUILDER AJM BAK or RIJTUIGSCHILDER. (See example.)
3) Post the two photos with your log. Logs without the two photos will be deleted without notice.
