👻 Malmö fyrar/lighthouses 👻 Virtual Cache

Västra Hamnen - Västra hamnen är den äldsta hamnen i Malmö stad. Dess konstruktion skedde i slutet av 1600-talet och början av 1700-talet. Här byggdes nya varvsbryggor, lyftkranar, fyrar, här etablerades en direkt järnvägsförbindelse. Förr i tiden seglade ångfartyg härifrån till Köpenhamn i Danmark och Lübeck i Tyskland, den senare färjan Transport trafikerades här fram till 2002. 1840 grundades här varvsföretaget, som i början av 1900-talet blev ett av de viktigaste varvsföretagen i världen. Malmö blomstrade industriellt, men industri- och miljöproblem började tynga staden. I slutet av 1900-talet bestämdes det att denna industri skulle flytta utanför staden, idag finns det nya fina hus och grönska på denna plats.

Hamnarna i Malmö expanderade ytterligare norrut och västerut. Idag firas historien om denna gamla hamn av två fyrar.

Den första, nu inaktiva fyren är från 1878. Den består av ett 20 meter högt åttakantigt gjutjärnstorn byggt på en åttakantig stengrund. Den övre delen består av ett galleri med kupol, fyren är vit med två röda horisontella ränder. Den här fyren fungerade fram till 1983. Idag varnar dess ljus inte längre fartyg, den lyser bara dekorativt.

Den andra fyren är från 1925. Den ligger på bryggan i slutet av Hjälmarekajens vall. Fyren är vit, dess lykta och kupol är röda. Från fyren har man fin utsikt över de nyare omgivande hamnarna, den gamla hamnen och en del av staden. Båda dessa fyrar, som inte ligger långt från varandra, är stängda för allmänheten.

Västra Hamnen Harbor - The Western Harbor is the oldest harbor in the city of Malmö. Its construction took place at the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century. New shipbuilding docks, cranes, lighthouses were built here, a direct railway connection was established here. In the past, steamers sailed from here to Copenhagen in Denmark and Lübeck in Germany, the later ferry Transport operated here until 2002. In 1840, the shipbuilding company was founded here, which at the beginning of the 20th century became one of the most important shipbuilding companies in the world. Malmö flourished industrially, but industry and environmental problems began to weigh heavily on the city. At the end of the 20th century, it was decided that this industry would move outside the city, today there are new nice houses and greenery in this place.

The harbors in Malmö expanded further north and west. Today, the history of this old port is commemorated by two lighthouses.

The first, now inactive lighthouse dates from 1878. It consists of a 20-meter-high octagonal cast-iron tower built on an octagonal stone foundation. The upper part consists of a gallery with a dome, the lighthouse is white with two red horizontal stripes. This lighthouse served until 1983. Today, its light no longer warns ships, it only shines decoratively.

The second lighthouse is from 1925. It is located on the pier at the end of the Hjälmarekajen embankment. The lighthouse is white, its lantern and dome are red. From the lighthouse there is a nice view of the newer surrounding ports, the old port and part of the city. Both of these lighthouses, which are not far from each other, are closed to the public.

Logging requirements:

Take a photo of yourself or piece of yourself with something personal (soft toy, wood coin or a piece of paper with your nickname on it) by each of the two lighthouses near the specified coordinates (photos taken from far or one photo from far with two lighthouses is not enough for fulfill condition of logging) in the background and attach the photo to your log.
