Welkom bij Post Utrecht!
Dit monumentaal pand is gebouwd in de jaren 1920 (architect: J. Crouwele Jr) en diende tot 28 oktober 2011 als het postkantoor van Utrecht toen het als laatste postkantoor van Nederland haar deuren sloot. Het heeft jaren leeggestaan tot het in 2020 heropend is als de centrale bibliotheek van de stad.
Het gebouw is een prachtig voorbeeld van de Amsterdamse School, die zich kenmerkte door het gebruik van expressieve en fantasierijke vormen. Blikvanger van het gebouw is de hal met de prachtige paraboolvormige bogen van geel verglaasde baksteen. Hoe de post de wereld bereikbaar maakte, wordt gesymboliseerd door de gegoten beelden van de vijf werelddelen van de hand van H.A. van den Eynde. Een zesde beeld staat symbool voor handel en welvaart. Het verkeer ter land, ter zee en in de lucht wordt bij de entree verbeeld.
De cache loggen
Om de cache te loggen moet je de grote hal binnengaan (zie onder de openingstijden) en een foto maken van het standbeeld dat het continent verbeeldt waarop jij geboren bent. Het mag een foto zijn van jezelf of je gebruikersnaam geschreven op een stuk papier met het standbeeld in de achtergrond.

Welcome to Post Utrecht!
This historic building was built in the 1920's (architect: J. Crouwel Jr) and served as the main post office of Utrecht until 28 October 2011, when it was the last Dutch post office to close its doors. It stayed closed to the public for several years, and in 2020 reopened as the central library of the city.
The building is a beautiful example of the Amsterdam School style of architecture, which is characterised by the use of expressive and imaginative shapes and forms. Its crown jewel is its stunning entrance hall, with its beautiful parabolic arches of glazed yellow brick. The postal service’s role in making the world more accessible is symbolised by the cast sculptures of the five continents, made by H.A. van den Eynde. A sixth sculpture symbolises trade and prosperity. Transportation by land, sea and air is represented at the entrance.
Logging the cache
To log the cache, you need to enter the entrance hall (see opening times below) and take a picture with the sculpture that represents the continent you were born on. It can be either a photo of yourself with the sculpture in the background, or a paper with your user name with the sculpture in the backround.
